The organisers of the fifth season of RDGPC are proud to announce a very special season finale - The RDGPC Indy 200 at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway.. and you can race with us!

Capping off what has occasionally been a turbulent season of racing in the Dallara IndyCar of rFactor 2, we at RaceDepartment have decided to celebrate the recent Indy 500 and the general craziness of oval racing whilst rounding out the year with something special, something memorable and something that gives our community the opportunity to get involved with us and enjoy a high level stand alone event. Thus the one off, standalone RDGPC Indy 200 has been born!

After much deliberation we have decided to wrap up the season with one big race, open to anyone with an rFactor 2 installation and Premium RaceDepartment membership who is up for a high speed challenge.

Introducing the 2017 RDGPC Indy 200 on July 1st from 17:45 GMT!!!

What is the event?
In honour of the greatest of American racing traditions we will be using the incredible rFactor 2 simulation and default S397 Dallara IndyCar to run a race of 80 laps (or 200 miles in IndyCar money) around the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway (also default rF2 content).

The event will feature practice, qualification and a race all run under our RaceDepartment League Racing rules, with live stewarding from our team of professional race organisation staff and a professional broadcast to our website and media channels, complete with commentary, artwork and race direction.

How to get involved?
We have thrown tradition out of the window for this event and opened up the season ending race of RDGPC to every member of our awesome RaceDepartment community. We will have 33 Dallara DW12 IndyCar seats to fill in a one-off oval racing spectacular.

All you need to do is register for a place on the grid by following the link HERE.

Why are we doing this?

RDGPC season five has had some highlights and lowlights this season for various reasons, and rather than run the championship to its conclusion and risk the potential for the final standings to be affected by technical difficulties from the opening rounds, we have taken the exciting decision to cap off the season in a style most appropriate for these amazing IndyCar machines, by running the toughest and most exciting IndyCar venue of them all for a high speed thrill fest over 200 miles of flat out, 230mph + side by side racing spectacular. I trust you will join us in our opinion that this is the most appropriate way to end the season before we announce something very special indeed for season 6...

Will we be holding another similar event in future?
Nope! This is a very special one off event that is unlikely to be repeated in future here at RD. If you want the chance to experience these spectacular cars on the track that made them famous, in a professional yet relaxed atmosphere, then this is literally your only chance! If you want in, visit the SIGN UP page and get your name down!

What do I need to be eligible to race?

First you will need a legal copy of rFactor 2 and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Dallara DW12 IndyCar mod installed. Worry not if you are using the latest DX11 build, our servers will be able to accommodate either the legacy DX9 version of the game or the latest beta build from Studio 397.

Next up you will need a Premium membership to RaceDepartment in order to have access to the servers and TeamSpeak password. This can be purchased as a single 10 Euro payment for a full one year membership. As an additional bonus premium will give you access to all our league and club events plus some other goodies. Check out the details HERE.

After that you are all set to go! Just visit the sign up page HERE and register your place, join the server at the start of the event and go racing! Simples :)

Oh and to help you out that little bit more, check out this setup that perfectly balances the car in a bid to give both stability and speed across all the sessions of the event. You can download it HERE.

When is the event taking place?

The whole RDGPC Indy 200 event will take place on Saturday 1st July and will be a single one off event, closing out the fifth season of our RaceDepartment Grand Prix Championship season.

How can I watch if I decide not to race?

We will have comms, cameras and (hopefully) plenty of track action to keep you entertained, so if you have a certain someone you want to cheer, or you are just looking for an entertaining way to pass the time on a Saturday evening then we have a show for you! Tune in, sit back and enjoy the biggest oval race of the season here at RaceDepartment!

As the currently season of RDGPC looks to close off in style with an open to all drivers invitation to race at the legendary American temple of speed that is Indianapolis, we hope you find the time to get out on track with us and join in the festivities for yourself.

RDGPC Season 5 has been a character building season for many of the teams, drivers and organisers here at RaceDepartment and we look forward to ending the year in style before we launch a very special, and very different championship next year..
