Introduction

Welcome to the the second running of the RaceDepartment Indy 500 in iRacing. Last season saw a huge turn-out of drivers that gathered to pick up the virtual bottle of milk. Lots of crashes painted the picture of the first half of the race; close fighting dominated the second half. This year we're looking to go bigger and better than last year, so go get that FREE RaceDepartment Licensed Membership and sign-up for this annual high-speed thrill!

A practical tip:

Map the following functions to a key (Options > In car). Make sure you can access them on track.
  • Front Antiroll Bar Inc
  • Front Antiroll Bar Dec
  • Rear Antiroll Bar Inc
  • Rear Antiroll Bar Dec
  • Right Weight Jacker Inc
  • Right Weight Jacker Dec
You can adjust the antirolls to play with the stability of your car. It's advisable to test before use. The settings are displayed on the left hand side of the steering wheel display.

The same goes for the weight jacker. Use the weight jacker in the draft by going +. This will left the rear end up a big, countering the understeer you get from losing downforce (aero push effect). Don't forget to reset it once you're out of the draft!

I want to sign up for the RaceDepartment Indy 500 2012and I have read, understood and agreed to the RaceDepartment League Regulations.

Its been a good while since I have ran anything with RD due to life and other junk... Sign me up please!

Good luck all especially myself to retain the cup hehe. It wont be an easy race. Tyre management after half a tank of fuel starts to get tricky. I am going conservative with my strategy.

Also when pitting under green I would recommend using the pitlane from T3 as stopping this car under race condition using T4 entrance is lethal. I've done a few tests to know that if you gamble shaving a few seconds you might regret it.

Lets have a race. It really is a great experience to just race for a stint without yellows.

Overtaking as stated by Yoeri should be calculated and not rushed. If by the turn you are not atleast half a car in then patience should kick in as another lap awaits instead of a TOW.

Looking forward to this.

Good luck everyone, unfortunately the wife has other plans for me today so I'm going to have to resign. Was hoping to have two successful days in a row and had done a bit of practice for this, but she had a few things planned that I wasn't aware of. Thats married life I guess, Give a little and recieve a lot in the end :) Wish I could be there.

Omg i was the slowest car on the field, I had the worst setup but i could keep a relatively good pace without any mistakes. But my computers said "haha you just thought that you can finnish this race" and i had a terrible lag and after that my computer crashed (thank you Windows), just for fun. :S
