All the hours of practice have paid off, learning every turn, every little bump and camber change that the track throws at you. The brakes squeal slightly as you gently bring the mighty Corvette to a stop at the pits, okay its not pole, but a rye grin forms on your face, they all thought you would never qualify this well......




The Mustangs small block V8 idles roughly at the start line at the Paul Ricard circuit, making the car jolt violently from side to side, even at idle the engines massive torque makes it's presence felt. One last time, you go through the circuit layout in your head, only a few seconds now before the formation lap begins and the start of the third season of Racedepartment's GT-C is under way. The start lights go green and the lead cars pull away, you begin to lift the heavy paddle clutch and dab the throttle, the Mustangs cold tires are no match for the V8's grunt, as you balance the clutch and throttle, the back tires spin wildly. Still sliding slightly, you get in position behind the Skyline in front and begin the 'formation' lap.



Third gear, fourth, holding station behind the Skyline in front of you as the pack runs toward Verriere, the whine of the straight cut box fights to be heard over the V8's stark rumble and the Mustang spits flames from its exhaust on the over run as you lift and begin braking. Through the Chicane and Saint-Beaurne and along L'ecole, the pack now begins to pick up speed and spread out a little along the Mistral straight. All the time it's on your mind to try and get some heat into the tires of the Mustang, the Skyline in front has four wheel drive and it will be hard to jump him once the leader makes his move at the exit of Virage du Pont. The Motec Display on the dash shows almost 7,000 Rpm and you pull the gear lever backward, engaging fourth gear once more, the dog box complains for a moment with a harsh clunk and then begins to whine and chirp again as usual. The cockpit of the Mustang is a brutal place, lengths of CDS tubing and Carbon fibre sheet, the heat and noise are oppressive and the only concessions to comfort are a flexi tube blowing cold air and a drinks bottle, feeding a tube in the drivers helmet. Again, the car vibrates and judders as you downshift and brake for the next turn, the mighty V8 growling and spitting out yet more flames. Back on the throttle, one last check of the gauges and all other thoughts begin to drift to back of your mind, Virage du Pont beckons, the final turn awaits, then all hell shall be unleashed.



The Dodge Viper looms large in the rear view mirror of the Porsche 996, the pack is closing up at the approach of the final turn and the leaders Aston Martin slows just a little, hoping to catch them off guard when he finally exits Virage du Pont and the race begins for real. The driver of the Porsche has been here many times before and knows the right distance to keep between himself and the leader.A little further back in the pack, Remco de Wildt heard a familiar noise. His headset crackled into life "Remco, pull back a little from the car in front, the telemetry shows your engine is running hot" Remco checks his water temp gauge and sure enough its running high. "you need to find some cooler air" His Engineer barked at him over the headset. Qualifying had not gone well for Remco, a simple setup error had pushed him back and he and his engineer had decided to heavily shroud the Pontiac's radiator. It was worth a good speed gain, but meant his cooling was marginal at best! Now the leaders Aston approaches the apex of Virage du Pont, his right foot ready to unleash the V12's power, suddenly the Aston Martins 'Howl' turns more savage............



How this story ends is up to you, will you drive in the third season of the RDGT-C? What will you drive? Cadillac's, Aston's, Chevy's, Nissan's, Dodge's, Porsche's and Pontiac's. A more ungodly and powerful mix of GT cars would be hard to find. These monstrous GT cars will do battle at some of the finest circuits in the world and will culminate in a final endurance race at the Sebring Circuit lasting 140 minutes.

This is the start of Racedepartments third GT-Championship, this is the start of the Race at Paul Ricard, this is the start of something special.....
