Rally - Fernando's Rally Challenge 3 - Monday 24th & Tuesday 25th September 2012

Ok
The first two stages I took very carefully, especially Pribram whom I drove maybe too carefully and I was very slow. After that I enjoyed driving stages 3-6, I love those Finland stages no matter what car I´m in. Then got maybe too excited and had my only cfh in ss7. Few close calls in ss8, but finished in one piece.

Afterall, I think this was a very good rally, so thanks to Fernando for designing it :) And thanks to everyone for setting this up. Had a great time :D

Congrats Fernando, Sion and Viesturs

Stage wins:
Fernando Agapito: 3 stage wins
Timo Hakkarainen: 3 stage wins
Viesturs Priede: 2 stage wins

Thanks to everyone who joined, thanks to Warren for setting it up, and thanks to Fernando for the podium presentation.

Please let me know if you notice any mistakes.

EU session took the podium, didnt expect that. Well done guys, it was nice to have those fights with you there. I didnt really thought its possible for me to take 3rd position. Although I thought that I might have 2 stage wins at Sweet Lamb and Rally Poland, I did those stages pretty decent, didnt push it, but didnt had any mistakes as well :)

Again - thanks for the rally :)

that was a bit of fun and l came last thats made my day .:)

Most of your finished stage times were slower than the default time that is given for not finishing a stage. That is how you finished last even though you reached the finish in 6 out of 8 stages while Senad and Henri each finished only 1 stage. That is the problem, Tony. :p Basically what I am saying - most of the stages you finished - it would have been faster for you to NOT finish them :p

We usually give default times if you go slower than the default time, I just forgot this time.

Fixed now

Woop my first individual podium and a 2nd place! Over the moon! :D I think the secret was pretty consistent times across the board and only losing alot of time on 2 stages.

Thanks to all and well done to Fernando and Viesturs, looks like our session was the one to be in!

Sion

Grats Fernando, once again a clear win, and continueing the trend of the Rally designer taking the trophy. :)
Well done Sion, first time on the podium individually, starting to knock on the door now. ;) Also, well done Veisturs, look what happens when you take a little more care to keep it clean. :p

Good to see the Stage wins shared around, not letting Fernando dominate this time.

Very nice Rally by Timo there, if not for Stage 5, you were pushing for the win. Great to see. Also, how close was that result to Tero (0.5 secs overall )

Welcome to the Rally Club for their first Rally to Robert and Michael. Almost a clean Rally for both of you, quite impressive considering how "unusual" this car is.

Thanks as usual to Senad for his Admin work, Fernando for designing the Rally and making the podium graphic, and Damien for another of his cool Banners.

Off to the RDRC next week, good luck all.

My first ever rally and I achieved what I wanted to do, finish without a retirement, though I came close a couple of times. I didn't really enjoy this car on the tighter corners, not sure if it was just the car or my setup but in 1st and 2nd gear I had to be super light with the throttle or the back end would become the front end very quickly. It was like there was a deadzone built into the throttle, as there was a slight build up of power, then at 20% throttle it felt like 100% throttle if that makes sense. So I spent most of the rally in 3rd gear, without confidence to throw it around too much, but I guess that was good cause I kept in on the road, albeit slowly.

SS1 was a bit of a disaster as I forgot to load camhack, the screen was all distorted and I cracked my windscreen after a roll in the first minute lol. I've been using bonnet view as I don't like the excessive movement from the cockpit view, but was stuck in the cockpit trying to look through the broken window. I was braking very early but got to the end eventually.

SS2 I had the most trouble with, especially the bumps as they were very unsettling on the car and had to use a CFH when I got stuck, it was good to finish that one! How much time penalty does a CFH add btw?

SS3 was my favourite, even got into 4th gear a few times haha. There were some good sweeping left/right corners where the Escort felt the best, for me anyway.

SS4 was also pretty good with all the bumps and ruts in the ground, is there a special tactic to handling these? I was backing off most of the time and just riding through them.

SS5 & SS6 were ok too, they felt very long and repetitive for some reason, still fun though. The high banks next to the road were quite intimidating, I guess they're normally snow banks, but I managed to keep clear of them and avoided any rolls.

SS7 I had a CFH near the start and with smoke coming from the bonnet, I couldn't concentrate properly and was slow.

SS8 I hadn't driven before, so was very careful. Had a couple moments but kept mostly out of trouble to finish!

Well done to the podium & thanks to everyone involved in setting this up, was a great intro into RBR online, next time I'll try and get onto TS also and introduce myself properly :).
