Racing FOV

Discussion in 'Off Topic' started by Scott Webber, Jul 10, 2012.

  1. Everyone always shows of their cockpits (their handy work) but it's nice to know the FOV you have when you race (normally at night time) ... it's interesting to see how people race and with what gadgets they have available.

here's mine, standadrd but im happy with it :D

  2. That looks close to what I use. I use 80 most of the time.

  3. 45 FOV with a 19inches monitor at the moment...

  4. 64 @ 40 inch Toshiba TV, now thinking of triple displays
Optimal FOV depends on how far you are from display and on it is width. Here is calculator: http://ostermiller.org/calc/triangle.html
Enter distances to your eyes from sides of display into left and right fields and display width into bottom field, and it will calculate your optimum field of view. Helps a lot to properly judge braking distance and turning points.

I think I am on 50 FOV at the moment in GSC with a 27" inch (i think) monitor. Probably all wrong but I am used to it now :)
