Incidents

#1 Steven Diem - Karim Wezenberg- T12 Lap 37

Protest: On lap 37 Diem goes an average 8-9 KM/H slower during braking than his normal laps(36-38 etc...) at turn 12 and thus brake-tests Wezenberg who loses his front wing and drops 3 positions because of this.

Verdict: The director acknowledges that the braking of Diem was indeed started slightly earlier (accounting for 8-9 km/h difference) than in laps closely following, however by no means did the difference in braking suggest a purposeful move, but rather a driving error. Due to the effects it had on Wezenberg's car, 0.5 penalty points for Diem.

I can confirm it was in fact driver error. I would never brake check anyone, and I think its a completely BS, and cheap thing to do. Apologies Karim.

However, upon more thorough review, it appears Karim was in my draft, going 7kmh faster, yet he braked at the same spot he normally does when not in a draft. I'm not saying I did not brake slightly earlier than normal, but as most drivers know, when you are in a draft, you must brake earlier than normal to avoid incidents like this.
