Watched it for 2 weeks in a row.. waste of time.. just huis dominating all time.. just too easy for him.. something is not right. will be tuning out shortly if he continus to pull away..
Q1: 23.6 on my first lap, was pretty convinced that it would get me through to Q2
Q2: 24.5, wasn't too thrilled with this, but got a surprising 4th place.
Race:
Had a safe start, was surprised to see that the guys in front of me didn't pull away more than they did.
Bono caught me quite quickly, and having noticed that he passed 5 guys before me, I didn't fight him very hard to avoid losing time.
After making my pitstop I rejoined right in front of Bruno, and he was able to pass me at the end of the lap. I tried to push hard to stay within his slipstream but failed in the end.
I'm pleased with 5th place however, much better start to the season than last year.
Congrats to Bono & the podium.
I understand it must be really hard for you to watch. You realized you couldn't take it anymore as a driver since you were nowhere near as good as top drivers, so you became a follower. Sadly it seems you can't handle that either as it's too much for your ego.
q1: was ok. DId a q2 practice lap after and did a 1.23.8 on q2 settings, so was confident into q2.
q2: was a good lap, I saw Bono making a mistake in front of me, which distracted me from my own lap, so I lost 0.2 in the final sector and lost pole there.
R: beginning was easy, didn't want to take any risks and tried a pass on Mikkonen. He counteracted impressively and took back the lead. After that Nilsson was in my slipstream and on the straight he got next to me. Our cars collided and I had damage on the left side. After that I had massive understeer and Bono could quite easy make a pass on me. The understeer made me run wide in T8 and caused a big spin, losing a lot of positions.
From that moment I just pushed like crazy, trying to leapfrog some driver by pitting in lap 20. This didnt work out, coming out of the pit in traffic. In the free air I was able to drive my normal pace and even with quite a lot older tires and a damaged car I was able to do good laptimes. I know I'm up there, and one of these races luck will be on my side..
Grats to Bono and Jaakko.. again.. Cya next week
"Q Finally I got Q done in a good way, although in my Q2 lap I lost 3 tenthes in T1, still P6 was very good
R I dunno really what's up this year. Bad luck is striking me down every time. I was having some pc issues here in Turkey with a so far unknown reason.
Race T1 I had a lag and spun, after that recovering, I was already on P13 looking good for grabbing some points still, when my pc froze.
Although I already tried to get this through I want to again say sorry to Ernesto, who I touched in my way to optimistic and really stupid move. I'm really really sorry for that.
"Considering I didn't do a lap the last week due to work, and switched to a slightly different setup rather late, I guess the result is ok.
For some reason I had no pace in Q2 and in the first part of the race, car felt a bit strange but I tried to make the best out of it. Stayed behind Bruno and David in the first laps, I saw I had no one behind me so I could afford to pit late and enjoy some lead laps. After the stop I rejoined behind Disley, but with the awesome Mod it's almost impossible to pass if you lack a tiny bit of topspeed. Passed him eventually in lap 47 and started lapping as fast as the leaders but it was too late, cruised home. Not a very entertaining race."
One thing I have to mention though, it wasn't helpful that the league decided to increase the setup options again.
In 2010 we took a (slight) step backwards and reduced options and in hindsight I guess we had a pretty exciting season. Nowadays we have more options, which of course benefits the bigger teams as they have a bigger pool of fast drivers and can try and search for the infamous setup secrets at a faster rate. Especially we have more reliability options than last year, which favours Bono even more because of his smooth driving style.
