Mapping a cone in Google Sketchup

This one has me a bit confused.

Mapping a cylinder (or extruded flat circle) with my texture works ok.

I can either make a tapered cylinder (cone with flat end) then map it, or create cylinder, map it and turn into a cone. But the same thing happens, the mapping messes up.

My image map is a rectangle shape seamless from left to right.... is there something I am missing to map a (traffic) cone?

Think I have solved it.

Make a cone..... also make a flat plane double the cone width and map it with the cone texture. Set the texture properties to "projected" then eye drop that texture off the plane, onto the cone... and it "should" work. Not perfect, but it is just what I have tried :)
