Manual gearbox use simulated mechanical failures

Hi all

I recently redid my DIY H pattern gearbox, and am very happy with my revamped version. Much better all round, although a few tweaks will hopefully make it even better.

However I am finding that when driving manual cars (my favourite is the Ferrari 312T4) I am constantly getting the flashing indicator that I have broken the virtual gearbox. This is not when buzzing the engine on the over-run, it is on down changes where the gearbox flashes yellow and the gear does not take. It feels like I am shifting correctly, waiting for the revs to drop etc, but I obviously am doing something wrong. I use the clutch, and try to heel and toe to match speeds but despite this I keep getting the messages

So I want to ask, what are the triggers that the game uses to define a fluffed gearchange? Obviously over-revving on the downchange, but that is engine related not gearbox.

Cheers

Les
