Im not sure if im posting in the right place but i cant find anyother place that ask this question. im trying my hand at making a track for rfactor and i can make the track ok but i cant add pavement to make pit road, am i missing something ??
It is the right place but it's not entirely clear what you're asking. If you just want to change the texture on some terrain panels at the side of the track, go to this page and watch the terrain video (log in to get the hi-res version). If the pitlane has been made from another track, changing the texture is just a matter of knowing what buttons to press.
Well i tryed everything i thoug possable but still cant seem to get it to work, is anyone here use ventrilo ??? if so maybe we could hook up on vent and talk about this
I use a new track and join it onto the main track. It works great. The tutorials mentioned really do work. IMO it's better than using terrain because with a track you can make a specific pit lane texture for it aligned to the pitlane.
I agree with the other guys create a short open track stretch it to where you want align using the merge track tutorial then adjust then use the Edit Start/Finish lines to align the pit lane with your track.
using the 'M' key when editting the pit lane nodes is useful when setting up the pit lane, as this allows you to match the pit lane nodes to the nearest piece of race track nodes - ie next to the main start finish straight for example - and then just move them all over (holding shift) to your chosen position next to the main track. You also have fine control over the nodes using the transform dialogue box.
The secret is in joining the tracks together smoothly however, as this is a little more tricky
