How to run BTB in Win7 x64

Discussion in 'Bob's Track Builder' started by catboy, May 25, 2011.

  1. To tun BTB in windwos7 64bits:

turn .net in 32 bits mode

    Type in command Line (cmd)

    "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\Ldr64.exe" setwow
    then run BTB

    turn back .net 64

    "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\Ldr64.exe" set64
  2. this sounds like good news! :doublethumb:
I've got an un-loved win7 x64 disc sitting on my shelf, and it's only on my shelf because of BTB.

I don't really understand what these commands will do, but would there be any problems if it left .net in 32bit mode as you describe? I'm likely to forget to change it back to 64bit once i'm done with btb.

And since i don't really understand how this will let BTB work in Win7 (because i just don't know that much about this sort of thing), are you able to elaborate a little please? I assume it relates to the licensing hardwareID problem, since generally BTB runs fine on 7 (besides licensing)?

  3. If you run those commands as a batch file you won't have to worry about forgetting to reset it afterwards.

    "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\L dr64.exe" setwow
    "c:\program files(x86)\BobsTrackBuilder\BobsTrackBuilder.exe"
    "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\L dr64.exe" set64
The third line won't run until btb is closed.
  4. Thanks R Soul
    Three steps become one!
Looking forward to making use of the extra 32bits of whatever that my cpu can deal with!
  5. Awesome

    Gonna try this now
  6. This is brilliant news ! Will give it a bash
  7. Catboy - I hope you don't mind, I shared your info with the BTB Facebook Forum as well. Thanks
  8. is ok.. "knowledge should be shared"
  9. BTB works fine in Windows 7 x64.

You don't need to do any of this to get it working.
  10. not for everyone. for some people it won't register at all, for some people it will work for a couple of months. fwiw, i'm yet to re-install win7 and try this work-around
  11. I'm gonna give it a go today

    Fingers crossed it works
