Lewis Hamilton says he is so comfortable in his new car at Mercedes that he often falls asleep in it during qualifying sessions.

Hamilton was expecting to have to wait months to get used to his new team, having only joined them in the summer after years spent at boyhood outfit McLaren. But, speaking ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix, the 28-year-old told
The Sun the car has been tailored to suit him so well that he often falls to sleep in between sessions on a Saturday.
‘The seating position in the car obviously is quite inclined,’ he revealed. If you’re sitting in the car it’s so easy to fall asleep when you’re in the garage. Generally, between qualifying sessions, I often fall asleep between Q1 and Q2 and Q3 – it’s so comfortable.

Mercedes specifically tailor each car to suit their driver, and even mould the safety seat for maximum comfort whilst trying to keep the weight down. And it seems that after accepting he won’t be challenging for the title for years, being able to grab a quick nap between races might be one of the only plus points about joining Mercedes.
