Friday Focus (1): Tire Warmers

In this week's Friday Focus we focus on the phenomenon of tire warmers. Why are they used by the teams in motorsport? The answer is very easy explained with a simple picture.

Cold tires are the enemy of the racing driver, so it's no surprise that teams go to great lengths to heat up the rubber to give the tires grip as soon as they touch the asphalt. The warmer the tire, the more grip the driver has.
