F1 Challenge 99-02

Discussion in 'Other Racing Games' started by Nils Wijk, Aug 12, 2008.

  1. Hey Guys,

    Yesterday I found my F1 install and i thought lets try that good old GTR2002 that got me into simracing for real. I went back to my XP system and made sure F1 was running (200-300FPS) lol and then I tried to install GTR2002 but I get an error. It says that a directory cannot be created. Someone familiar with this?
  2. Crap seems it was designed for F1 2002, need to look for that CD then lol...
  3. I've got F1 2002, wanna play one day?

    I've just installed F1C, not played it for a loooooooong time but it's still good.

    I'm using Win7 64-bit and the game itself works fine but if I install either RH2005 or Season 2007 GGSF1 it crashes after selecting the track.

    I think the last time I ran this it would have been with RH2003 on WinXP.

    Anyone know what the problem is and\or suggest other more recent Mods?

    Regards

    F1 Challenge '99-'02 trace results.

    Hello! I just downloaded F1 Challenge, and my game of course has been crashing because of the mods.

    Is there anything such as a handy utility for all of these fixes? Thank you!

    My trace.txt results:

    Incorrectly installed mod is the issue there.

    If you no longer have the 95 mod installed and its CTD on loading go to your PLR file and edit the lines under 'Driver' change that to one for the standard game cars (02 BAR for example) - see code below.

    If your trying to get the 95 mod to work then do the above steps and then reinstall the 95 mod.

    One more question:

    Is the trace.txt file comprehensive with the CTD error or is it particular with the files that have crashed?

    EDIT - Since I don't feel confident of playing around with the game files' templates, is there such thing as a mod manager/installer for F1C99-02?

    Well, pardon me; I figured it out in a short amount of time.

    I am going to install mrjglo's track pack(though I wish there was another site with the DL.) and f1 seasons starting with '82 so I can drive with Gilles Villeneuve's Ferrari.

    EDIT YET AGAIN - Here is my most recent traces:

    TRACE LEVEL = 2
    NetComm.cpp 6949: NetComm checking command line: "- trace=1000"
    game.cpp 360: Entered Game::Enter()
    osman.cpp 420: Entered OSMan::Enter()

    options.cpp 1169: Entered Options::Setup()
    tire_manager 1080: Non-existent tire brand ""
    tire_manager 1080: Non-existent tire brand ""

    I need to find the tyre brands and the game will be good to go with every mod.

    Tbh Non exsitant tire brands tends to come up on almost any trace whether it crashes or not so that wouldn't be your problem I don't think. When does the game crash? On Loading spinner, track?

    F1 Challenge '99-'02 mod installation help.

    In my opinion, I will love F1C more than rFactor because the grip is not so twitchy even without driving aids.

    But, the point of this thread is when I attempt to install a mod such as the Track Pack 1982-1996, I install it but when I select certain tracks, I get a CTD error. It's also the same way when I select certain cars installed through a mod package that gives me the CTD error.

    For installing mods, should I just do an Auto-Rename for a few of them so that the original file is not overwritten?

    Really hope someone can help me - I downloaded the 1994, 1995 and 1996 F1 mods from BulgarianSimWorld.

    After installation, I went into the game - edited my player to any of the mods, went back, selected a country flag to select a track, and when I click Go To Track, I get the error of 'F1C.exe has stopped working'.

    I get this every time.

    Also, intermittently it crashes after selecting a mod driver as soon as I try to go back to the main screen. But not always, even with the same mod and driver.

    I am running Windows 7.

    Any advice will be appreciated!

    Have you tried running it in Windows 95 or Windows 98/ME Compatibility mode?

    Is there a mod manager for this game?

    I keep overwriting my mods and copying to certain folders is kind of tedious when it comes to adding new icons from different seasons.
  17. It's crazy but I've been having the most fun racing in this over my other sims lately. Theirs just something about it that is just great even though it's so dated.
  18. as i saw by the trace you posted before it looks like you installed a F1 2001/2 Mod, as none F1C Mod uses a file called "1995_F1CAR_3DR.GEN" - did you tried out the CTDP 1995 F1 mod?
    about the TrackPack unfortunately i can't help you without a trace file.

    Thats why personally i just play it up today (got it on the day when it was released in 2003). And there are many good Mods out there, still there are some in Progress for this great game! So we didn't came to an end of this game yet. ;)

    Hey, RaceSimulations.com is no longer part of the web. Damn shame!

    I want feedback for my lap on F1 Challenge in Adelaide running the 96 Williams:

    I should go for a 1:15-1:17.

    Do you think I should be faster exiting the ninth corner?

    I think I followed the line precisely and I got an exact feel of the wheel. Is there room for improvement or has a professional time been unattainable?
