Do I need to pay for higher Internet service?

I used to have download speeds of 5 Mbps, now, I have 2.5 Mbps. My upload speed is still the same.

Youtube is stuttering constantly on my connection, my Steam downloads no longer reach 1 MB/s, and, Diablo III has a lot of latency.

So, is it time to pay for higher Internet?

Well, it seems as though my Internet took a jump to 14.91 Mbps download speed because school has started for the kids.

Still, do I need to pay for better Internet if summer vacation takes place?

For playing games as far as im aware you dont need as much bandwidth as you think 2.5MB up and down should work for games its your ping, latency, jitter, and packet loss that is important.

if you want to stream vids or download youtube clips films then the quicker you can get it into your pc the better it will be..

you can use this to find out your speed
http://www.speedtest.net/

but more important for gaming
http://www.pingtest.net/
try and pick one the map the same place were the servers are for were your gaming
and do each test more than once to get a true reading.

if you playing on a server form the other side of the world you will struggle with connection and a high ping we all will in the same situation.

BTW, Mr. Wilson, I do use SpeedTest and PingTest. My bandwidth drops at 15:05 CDT, when, the kids are out of school. My ping is a C+ according to PingTest.net.

I am using a wireless router for the sake of a firewall within the DMZ, and, I have SSID turned on, though, I want to turn it off, but, I need to find a way to still allow access for all connected devices, and, I have a complex password based on an F1 driver and thankfully, nobody here knows about me or F1, because, they would be brute forcing more easily.

So, no, it is secured from the router page to the signal.

BTW, I've learned quite a bit about security since I failed my exam. Once I get the little stuff tackled, I should ace that exam.
