Sell Complete SFX-100 setup ready to use [UK]

If it's any help I think my basic material costs were around £1,600. But add to that the extensive time spent sourcing/dealing with suppliers/ordering/paying import duty/researching/assembling/building/testing, as well as costs for specialist tools, lubricants etc etc.
If anyone wants to buy a pre-built and tested system for an easy and risk-free experience then all that needs factoring in. I've been giving this some thought recently as I probably have to sell my own SFX-100 soon.
Hi Mascot,
I hope you don't mind my asking but what is the reason for thinking of selling your SFX 100 so soon?
I'm just curious if you're disappointed in some way with the performance.

Not at all, it's an amazing bit of kit, especially for the money. It's effectively a dbox chassis mover for a fraction of the cost. Unfortunately for me I'm one of a tiny minority who is sensitive to the coil whine from the drivers, whereas it doesn't affect the vast majority of users. I've had people over who can't even hear it. I guess I'm just plain unlucky.

Soo, where does this noise come from, the motors or the controller boxes ?

ah that sucks man. I was a little worried about it after reading the complaints some had, but although I can hear it, when driving I just don't notice. Sadly the motion itself threw a whole other curveball, for whatever reason I just get horrendous sickness / disorientation no matter what I do, even with the rig barely moving...

Yeah, it doesn't affect the vast majority of users so it's not normally an issue at all.

Just curious: did you turn on 'lock to horizon'?

@Mascot Have you tried noise canceling headphones to combat the whine?

I just bought a pair Bose 700 and now i can't hear my GS-5 or Seaflows anymore. It works surprisingly really good.

Headphones aren't a practical solution for me and I certainly don't want to spend £350 seeing if they'll work.. ;)
I've accepted the fact that I'm one of the unlucky few and it's time to move on. It's silly having this wonderful contraption and not using it. Time to let someone else enjoy it. Ironically my hearing could change at any moment, as this sensitivity to high frequencies decreases with age, apparently. If it does, I'll jump right back in.

Nope, and I don't want to try it. Having to physically look up or down depending on the orientation of the car is just completely backwards to me, and there just isn't enough movement in the motion to negate the need for that in some tracks. But lets not go down that road as I know some people cant drive without it , for me its just wrong.

I did try other combos of G force / camera movement on/off but none of it helped so I give up and accept I am one of those people who are very susceptible to lets say "false motion cues".

Are you sure you know what 'lock to horizon' does?
This video shows it very well: left - world jumps and car is still (makes me sick), right - car moves and world is steady (feels natural to me and doesn't make me sick).

I know what it does in AC, which is my main sim. Just go to the nords and up down some big hills, you either end up looking at your feet or the roof of the car unless you tilt your head to compensate...

edit: your video shows it quite well (especially when he rolls it LOL), to have the car moving around me that much just feels as un-natural as the motion itself has done.

Have you tried Real Head Motion? It lets you balance car movement with environmental movement, ie you can choose in an analogue way where you want to be between the two digital extremes of lock to horizon on or off.

I always use RHM (at 100% to prevent sickness) because of the roll problem in AC's 'lock to horizon'. It also works in VR. Can't drive without RHM (or 'lock to horizon') or it will make me sick because of the bouncing world, especially in VR.

Unless I missed something RHM doesn't work in VR?

At least I have never used it in VR, which seems fine without it. RHM was great with a monitor though :)
It certainly used to work in VR, and was fantastic. I just use LTH now because RHM stopped auto-launching, but used to love RHM. Might go back and reinstall it actually.

Do you happen to know where the current version can be downloaded from?

Oh well, you learn something every day. Sadly doesn't change a thing, because even if it fixed AC I'm sure I'll have the same problem with other games, so I'm done.

Just not interested in ever sitting in a running motion system ever again.

Version 1.0.4.2 can be found here. Don't forget to click on "Register DLLs" once before starting AC.
Thanks! From memory, in CM I should disable 'lock to horizon' and enable RHM integration, and point CM to the folder where the RHM executable is stored?
Also, do you need to do anything to get RHM to start automatically?
Thanks!
