BTB won't load my project anymore, why?

  1. Hey everyone,
    I was about three quarters away from finishing my street track on BTB, and while doing some basic terrain work, the program crashed (as it does normally, but usually snaps out of it pretty quickly).
    When it asked me to either continue or quit, because of the error, I clicked quit, and it asked if I wanted to save before quitting, and I clicked yes.
    This is what I do normally but this time as I go back to load the project, the program enters ‘Not Responding’ mode, whites out, and then comes on with a fresh new canvas.
    Other projects load up fine, and I’ve tried to load the project after deleting all the xpacks I wasn’t using, that appear in the folder, still nothing. Then I tried deleting the xpacks I was using, and loading it and that obviously had new problems.
    I wish there’s an easy solution here because I REALLY don’t want to lose my baby project. I did back it up on usb, but that was I while ago from where I am now.
    I’m using windows 7 and BTB Pro 0.8.0.3, I was doing ‘click and drag’ default grass terrain laying last.

  2. Saving a crashed project is risky, there is a change it's lost forever. Always use Save As after a project throws a error screen. Therre is one method on how to restore lost projects. There's a folder named Temporary in BTB program directory. There are bunch of files. Try to identify the closest date/time when you had the crash and copy that file. Make a copy of your project folder, open it, delete venue.bin, paste the file you found and rename it as venue.bin

    All the files in Temporary folder are actually levels of undo, they are all temporary Venue.bin files that BTB loads when you press undo/ctrl-z.
