Advice on Mods/Tracks for GTR2?

Discussion in 'GTR 2' started by FerrariMan96, Jan 4, 2013.

  1. Hi Guys,

As a recent purchaser of GTR2 (in the Steam sales :D), I would like some advice on which are the best mods and tracks out there for GTR2. My rFactor and RACE07 installations are full of all sorts of junk, some of which is not so well executed and most of which I do not use... and with a relatively low download limit, I would like some help on selecting mods :D

Power and Glory is one mod I will definitely download, but after that I'm lost as to what content is/isn't good :)

    F1 1988
    F1 2009

    Hankook MX5 Miata Cup
    Ford Focus RS Cup 2009
    Ford Fiesta Cup 2009
    Ford Escort Cosworth RS Cup
    WTCC 2012
    Corvette Meeting Mod
    Grand Am Revolutions
    Rally World 4
    ALMS 2009
    Fiat Punto Cup
    Ferrari 512BB LM
    FIA GT 2010/2011
    FM Honda Civic Cup
    Hot Hatch Euro Cup

    Street Car Mod

Just to name a few lol!

As for tracks whatever you like on Race07 or Rfactor is more less available for GTR2.

With a exception of a few, most of these can be found at No Grip and Drivingitalia.net
  3. Wow that's quite a list - thanks :)

I did decide to proceed to download a few mods, one of which was the Champcar mod that you listed above, but for some reason the cars aren't showing up in game - they're listed but the models don't appear where they would usually spin. Any ideas? I'm stumped :p

When you open the mod file you'll see 3 SIM files, a gdb, tga and a text file. Put those straight into you GTR2 Gamedata folder. This has to be done with all GTR2 mods.

  5. Ok I'll do that tomorrow when I'm at my PC again. I would've thought that the folder structures in the archive would've accounted for this, but I'll double check :)

  7. Thanks for the link, I am familiar with their other sites :)

They were there already, however I ran a trace and it appears that there were a ton of missing .HDC files, so I checked and there weren't any in the teams folders. I think I might've downloaded an update or something stupid like that *facepalm* :p.
  8. Yep, I just realised I only Installed the 04/07 pack, rather than installing the 05/06 pack first... that's what happens when you speed-read the ReadMe XD
  9. Hiroshi Awazu I love the Champ Car mod, but for you, can you see the front wheels while in the cockpit view? I can't, and it's really annoying when trying to hit apexes... :p

The only explanation I can give for this is GTR2 doesn't render your car's wheels whilst in cockpit view because the game's default cars are GT, so you can't see the wheels anyway.

Go to Userdata, your profile name then open the .plr file. In graphics options scroll down and find "Wheels Visible in Cockpit", set to 1. default is 0. When you exit don't forget to click on Save button.
  11. Ah ok, thanks :)
  12. I used the pilsbierbuden autoupdater for a gazillion tracks and cars. Im getting my G27 this weekend, hit me up if you feel like racing!!
  13. Enlighten us with your updater John?
  14. Pilsbierbude is a German community for GTR2 (there are others for rFactor (Bockbierbude), GTL (Altbierbude) and Race 07/GTR Evo (Weissbierbude)), and (after signing up) they have a huge amount of tracks and mods available for download, either manually (honestly my preferred method :p) or using their auto-updater. I think their address is www.pilsbierbude.de but I'm not certain.
  15. Wait!? There are mods other than P&G for GTR2??

    None worth playing imo. ;-)

  16. Haha yeah that's an amazing mod. I love it. But, GTR2 has plenty of other great content to offer though, such as Champ Cars and various GT and Touring Car mods...

Where can I find those mods, particularly F1 2009, WTCC, and other formula series? Didn't find these in drivingitalia. Other sites?

  19. F1 1991 is the best mod for open wheelers by far.
Depends what you like to drive. There are tons of mods for GTR2 out there but not that many really great ones. For GT cars, you cant beat NAGP. Google them. Well balanced.
I run my own league and we use their cars. Our fun series, we use DTM 2013 which are really easy to drive and a hell of a lot of fun.
Check us out and see the cars for yourself:
