There is a great line that comes from the 1981 Americas Cup winning captain John Bertrand when he discusses that the Italian boat Azure was the fastest boat at the 1981 regatta but did not win.
He states
"you have the Italian Factor, you put 12 Germans, British, Americans, Australians or Swiss on a boat and you have a crew...
Put 12 Italians on a boat and you have 12 Italians on a boat".
I guess it just gets scaled up when you have 400.
