Welcome to the central place to discuss the 2017 Formula 1 VTB Russian Grand Prix here at RaceDepartment.
Meatloaf once sang two out of three aint bad and that must certainly be the feeling down at the Scuderia Ferrari pits this season, as German Ferrari number one and four time World Champion Sebastien Vettel sits proudly at the top of the current standings following an incredible start to the new season in 2017.
Although Ferrari still have work to do to convince the Formula One paddock that theirs is the most complete package so far this season, Vettel and Co. have done much to unnerve the previously dominant Mercedes team in the opening exchanges of the current campaign.
With a track potentially more suited to the strengths of the Mercedes package here at Sochi, and with a former three time World Champion in the form of Lewis Hamilton and his young teammate Valtteri Bottas having it all to prove, the 2017 Russian Grand Prix could well produce another cracking Formula One Grand Prix...
We will be using this thread throughout the coming days to discuss the Grand Prix weekend, post practice, qualifying and race reports and share the excitement of the event with our fellow RaceDepartment Formula One fans.
Sit back, grab a beer / wine / whisky / tea or coffee and enjoy the action as it unfolds out on track....
