2015 Ace Race #1, Australia: Race Briefing

Discussion in 'Formula SimRacing' started by Blair Disley, Apr 1, 2015.

  1. Welcome to the First Round of the 2015 Formula SimRacing Season.
The password to join the server will be visible when you log in to GPCOS in the Control Center next to the server's IP address.

Before proceeding to the event, pay attention to the following:

Melbourne T4 exit you can extend over the yellow/grey line according to red marked area in attached picture below. T4 exit curb and rest of track normal cut rules apply (please study the rulebook before the race if you are still unsure about what is a cut).

Delete all *.rcd files from your player/settings/FSR_2015 folder!!

Anyone joining an official race with a virtual team will get a RACE BAN. This is extremely important issue that can cause lag and people not to join!!!

    • Read the updated rules package for 2015 here.
    • Check Cutting/Extending Exceptions here.

Formula SimRacing Ace 2015 time table:
Saturday, 15:30 GMT: Server opens for PQ 1 *
    Saturday, 15:40 GMT: Pre-Qualifying (Multi Session, 2 groups) *
Saturday, 16:25 GMT: Practice Saturday, 16:35 GMT: Qualifying 1
Saturday, 16:45 GMT: Qualifying 2 Saturday, 16:50 GMT: Warmup
    Saturday, 17:00 GMT: Race 1 Saturday, 18:30 GMT: Grid 2 Warm-up **
    Saturday, 18:40 GMT: Grid 2 Race **

    * Optional, according to rules 5.2, 5.3 and 5.7
** Optional, according to rule 5.6

The Free Practice session will be 10 minutes in length and will be run in the "Practice 1" session. Every participating driver should join as soon as possible after the server opens to make sure that they don't miss the start of Qualifying and also to make sure that their game is configured & working properly.

The Qualifying 1 session will be 10 minutes in length and will be run in the "Practice 2" session. Drivers can use what ever setup they want, as long as they only drive with qualifying fuel loads.

The Qualifying 2 session will be 5 minutes in length. Only the top 10 drivers from Qualifying 1 will be allowed to go out on track. Drivers will be allowed to do one flying lap (one outlap, hotlap and inlap). The drivers will all be on track at the same time eg not private. Parc Ferme will be enforced. You will only be allowed to change your fuel load, engine boost, engine brakemap, front wing angle, steering lock, brake balance and brake pressure after the session is over, so make sure you have your race setup loaded when entering Qualifying 2. The session will be closed, meaning if you happen to join late, or for some reason drop out of the server during the session, you will not be able to rejoin the server until the server has moved to Warmup.

The Warmup session will be 10 minutes in length. While in the garage, make sure you add the appropriate amount of fuel in to your car since refuelling is not allowed during the race. You can drive freely in the Warmup session to try to get a feel for the heavier car after qualifying on low fuel.

The Race will be 47 laps long. Drive safely during the race, especially at the start and the first lap in general.

Red Flags will NOT be used unless in very specific situations which are specified in the rule documents.

  9. Mark Aalberts missed out on top 26 in pre-qualifying by a small margin.

Server is up again for qualifying.
  10. 0.040 -.- Well I have to say maybe it was a bit optimistic to jump in the car after a year sabbatical and thinking that 2 days of practice should be enough to make it. Seems I was wrong though, got to say there is some nice racing ahead of us in ACE for sure with top20 within one second.:sneaky:

I think I focused to much on the race set and not enough on Q, I was already afraid that something like this was going to happen. Back to the drawing board.:D
