daft question guys, but I'm sat in the grandstand now at copse watching the BTCC. and saw the race timings posted on BTCC page.

some drivers have a blue spot next to their names under the CL category. CL = class what does the blue spot designate?
is it to do with them being a factory works team?

Yeah that's all it is, just highlighting the Honda's and MG's.

What a massive car. Looked my like a GT3 at first glance.
I think it is funny how BTCC manages to attract more and more manufactures and WTCC is just crap now.

Agreed. Personally, I'm little terrified that BTCC one day will turn out like WTCC thou.
Let's hope it's not, but you never know.

I'm not sure what it is that makes the WTCC so bad. I think the tracks they use don't help, they tend to be GP circuits which don't suit the cars and type of racing at all.

The British tracks are usually pretty short and narrow which leads to the frantic racing you see.

Yeah, agreed on that too. No idea what they are thinking to be honest.

Yes, in the past it was the tracks a bit, but still last year there was at least some action, but now with the big wings on the car it is like F1 or DTM without DRS. Not that bad, but for two short races way to bad. They don't have a big BOP (or boost system in BTCC), which equals out the car only some extra weight, which doesn't slow down as much. So someone like Citroen turns up throws a lot of money at it and they finish 1,2,3,4...
They tried to get in more manufacturers with these new cars, but shipping these little cars around the globe for two short races is plain stupid in my eyes. In F1 you have at least people turning up to the races most of the time.
Even the non factory cars (Cruzes) are very expensive more expensive than GT3 cars, which you basically race somewhere every day on this planet.
In BTCC you have not a lot of shipping cost the cars are still not super cheap, but you have a chance to do well even in a small team and you have a lot of spectators, which is good for sponsorship. GT3 cars are close in cost to WTCC, but you still can race in a more european based series and you can enter some huge events like 24h Spa, Nürburgring or Bathurst 12h and what not and the races are usually nice to watch. WTCC might be even the most expensive one of the three and you race on 12 mainly booring tracks at the end of the world where no one is watching, the races are booring and if you want to win you have to spent so much money you may be better of developing a GTE car.

tbh I've felt the BTCC has always had the upper hand on the WTCC. It, somehow, some way, has just always had better racing, marketing etc.
in Australia previously they replayed BTCC races on free-to-air, not once seen the WTCC mentioned save for perhaps a crash once or twice

Agree with all, one of the things that makes it fun to watch in the 3 race format. It's fast an frantic if you only had 20 mins to win it's flat out all the way
