rFactor 2: August Content Update Includes Porsche Cup Liveries

Things had recently gotten quiet regarding rFactor 2 while developer Studio 397 is hard at work with Le Mans Ultimate. rF2 has not been abandoned, however: The August update brings new liveries, visual improvements and various smaller changes to the sim. More is to come, too.

It may not be a big update, but the official liveries of the 2023 Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain is still a nice addition for more immersion when racing the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992). The series is about to enter the second half of its season at Knockhill this weekend before heading to Donington, Silverstone and Brands Hatch.

Staying with the British racing scene, the BTCC cars in rF2 are also subject to change regarding their brake adjustments and their AI, as well as a tire update. To ensure better competition, their Balance of Performance has been adjusted, focusing on FWD cars in particular. GTE and GT3 vehicles are also among the vehicles that have received slight BoP changes.

Some of the simulation's circuits have received a touch-up regarding their visuals, notably Toban Raceway Park, NOLA Motorsports Park, Mills Metro and Atlanta Motorsports Park. All of them except for NOLA have also seen improved track limit detection for AI drivers.

You can find the full changelog to find out all the details of the update below. While this is a small update, Studio 397 promises to have "more coming your way soon..." in the official update post on their website.

Nascar: Ignition - was developed by some Russian development team (now obsolete I believe).
This is not correct. The development of this game was a collaboration of several teams within MSG:
  • A team in Moscow that worked on the creation of assets, motion capturing and Unreal Engine integration as well as some gameplay mechanics.
  • Studio 397, integrating the rFactor 2 physics engine into Unreal Engine, creating the car physics, providing multiplayer code, adapting the AI to run on ovals and implementation of several NASCAR specific rules.
  • A 704 games team, working on the career mode, paint booth, and in general providing the other teams with NASCAR expertise with their background working on the HEAT games.
  • A team in Silverstone, working on game design, game testing and several other bits.
So this was a much broader collaboration.

Ahh, completely wrong then

Thanks for the corrections.

Hope things are going well for you in your new adventures.

Then don't enable steam overlay, why people do this for serious sims I have no idea.

Why should you get a discount when you were too cheap to buy the pack the first time ?

Does any other sim give you discounts on DLC ? like Racroom ? Do i get a discount buying AMS2 season pack because of packs I already brought ? No Then why should rF2 ? You people.
I think you misunderstood what I meant with discount, When the pack was created later than the individual content, which I already bought when the individual content was released initially. E.g., RaceRoom has a system when you buy a pack that already contains content you already own, you won’t have to pay for it again. But for me it does not matter much, since I buy all rF2 content always on day one.:D

Thanks for an eye-opener. The project seems in good hands.

Once upon a time when acquiring a game I read the credit list as a first to-do (in some C64 games you had to, with no skipping option) and still remember most of the who to credit for GTR2 :) Nowadays it's in a seperate menu of which I unfortunately imperceptibly forget to check.
Looking forward to try out the news, especially a refined rF2 version of Toban Raceway Circuit. Though not that often into fantasy tracks this track I've really enjoyed the original in rF1 :inlove:

Never good at explanations so if this went over your head this may help.

1. Start rF2 and go to workshop.
Auto updates is ticked.
There are no warnings for uninstalled content.
Everything is green.
Perfect ? Yes for sure.

View attachment 687206

2. Now.....I click once on "Installed" and this happens.
So those orange items where at the bottom of the list hidden
and no warning about uninstalled content.

Since I been doing this method as long as I can remember
and never had this issue ever happen with default content
all I can assume is you have changed something and
whatever it is is wrong, clearly.

I know the solution ! Subscribe all the content was just updated.
Well that sort of defeats the purpose of not having to subscribe in the first place don't it ?

P.S. you can see mixed into this list are some 3rd party skin sets I mentioned.
I have not found a way to make them stay green so i left them subscribed, issue solved, but they are small mods and 5 in total so no problem. I just don't want to be subscribing to GB's of content I should not have to.
Just was never expecting to have the same issue with default content.
All because I want to use content in rfmods without subscribing to them.

Like I said this was part reason you changed this feature from auto subscribe.
Could it be that Steam is maybe having issues? Because it works on my end. ;)

You right was my fault.
I tested your theory by uninstalling rfmods using latest content I then
uninstalled same content, did this through mod manager.
When I opened rF2 it said warning "uninstalling" so steam still
thought it had content installed.
I must have left steam open when I was doing manual updates.

p.s. manually re-installed all updated content activated rfmods and workshop
is green ticks. Thanks :)

Moral is steam is smarter then I thought lol

Refreshing old content is good, but I still wait for the day Reiza paid DLC is updated. Isn't there any way to make them do it? Make it free content if they refuse, or too busy with stamping their AMS2 stuff.
Now 2 of the best race tracks - Imola and VIR - are left with 5 years old graphics, and not even laser scanned.

I thought they were working on updating it, but have not heard anything about it for a while.

Finally, the Formula ISI is receiving an update to include KERS in the simulations for the first time

Formula ISI 2012 v2.25
Added KERS
Fixed dashboard display

It seems nobody mentioned that this build also added KERS to the sim.

There was an Amiga game called Keef the Thief. When all the legal mumbo-jumbo was displayed during the initial install, you were instructed by the game to read the information. As usual, I just scrolled down to the bottom and hit the 'accept' button. I was immediately scolded by the game for cheating and NOT reading the thousands of expertly crafted legal words. Clicked 'accept' again. More chastising. Finally, after the 3rd or 4th attempt, the game relented and allowed the installation to continue. Lot of humor in that title, if I recall correctly.
