The Goodwood Festival of Speed is a highlight for racing fans each year: Countless legendary racing cars from past and present times can be seen in action racing up the hillclimb course. RENNSPORT Closed Beta users will be able to experience the track for themselves soon - and even better, the sim is going to introduce the Porsche 963 LMDh car!

Just like in 2022, RENNSPORT had a presence at the FoS, where it first showed its recreation of Goodwood's famous hillclimb course, alongside the Porsche Mission R. The former is going to be available in the Closed Beta in 2023, and it is going to be accompanied by a brand-new car that also introduces a new vehicle class to RENNSPORT.

Sim Racing Debut for the 963

Having made its racing debut in 2023, the Porsche 963 marks the return of the legendary manufacturer to top-flight sports car racing after pulling out in 2017. Thus far, it is not available officially in any simulation, making RENNSPORT the first sim to feature the 671 hp hybrid prototype. Just like Goodwood, it is set to make its beta debut in 2023.

Speaking of the Closed Beta: RENNSPORT also announced that they had sent out close to 10.000 keys for the program ahead of the Goodwood weekend, so user involvement is steadily ramping up. Thus far, the beta content includes four tracks in the Nürburgring, Monza, Spa and Hockenheim as well as four GT3 cars in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) and the BMW M4 GT3.

Your Thoughts

Are you looking forward to getting your hands on the 963 and Goodwood? Have you received a beta key already - and if so, what are your impressions of RENNSPORT? Let us know in the comments below!

RS is good and its extremly good if you have a monster PC but i think its going kick the &%¤& out of ACC..... The 963 yes GW no.

At first I didn't like it. Then I gave it another try, started to push cars, and it felt like rF2 before GT3 tyre update. That is way better than ACC even now over the limit. Although RS lacks the nuances of complex ACC physics, FFB is spikey, sounds are meh and many other things to do, they are on the right track.

The fact that I actually enjoy driving beta RS over ACC says a lot. And it even looks better all maxed out. (5900x and 3080)

Being involved in ESL has really made me drive this game a lot and... Idk, tyre model is way too permissive, in order to be fast you need TC0 and u have to slide through the corners, i don't think this is going to translate to a very good Hypercar experience, unless the car uses different tyres.

I don't sense any kind of hype with this sim, I don't know why. Somehow it feels underwhelming, however I feel a lot more hyped about AC2. I'm fearing that this sim was going to be about as popular as automobilista or project cars.

First interesting car imo.
Let's see what the future brings. When they add VR I'm curious.

I know why. Because they have absolutely zero track record. Its a completely unknown entity thats making a sim with mostly cars that are already in other established sims and on top of that with a still somewhat unclear business model. I remember how i was eagerly awaiting AC1 back in the day. But why? Because i knew who made Netkar Pro.

I disagree it looks better then ACC... not even close yet .... also, performance wise its not even on the same level yet.... especially since it hasnt night and day transition , rain, triples etc... wait until that is added to the engine and then recompare :p

ACC still has that ugly dissolving/popping of far away objects. Can't say about performance yet, RS doesn't allow AI races. I run both on max, capped at 80 fps single monitor.

I could only see it on some tracks during first lap, after all textures are loaded it doesn't happen.
This is on Samsung G9 (5,120 x 1,440) all maxed out with DLAA. (not DLSS)

They should start working on the 12 car limit instead, topping out at 12 cars on a track in 2023 is laughable.

I think that while it may be part of it, I suppose that it worried me what I perceived that their business model was going to be in a past article here months ago. I'm way too radically opposed to the software as a service business model, reason why I never even tried Iracing despite being funded by the same people that once was in papyrus making my favorite simulators when that studio still existed.

But I also feel a lot of disinterest and lack of engagement from other users, when the orignal GTR was released the developers where modders turned into a studio, they had no track record and despite that there was a lot of hype before the and after the game was released. And the thing is that they even got to live up to the hype. I don't have the same feeling here, for some subconscious reason I perceive this somehow kinda as a money grab and as bandwagoning more of the same gt3.

Haven't been able to get in to this yet to be honest. Graphics don't look anywhere near as good as that trailer for me, even when set at max. Feels like it stutters and the FFB feels a bit mushy. All just my opinion of course.

Said it before and ill say it again. This being EGS exclusive will prevent it getting popular. Guarantee you people wont even know its launched. Happened to so many games on that platform, how many games have to launch on that terrible platform before they learn
What's so terrible about it? At the moment it's less bloated than Steam and benefits developers more by taking less cut from sales. If you actually care about games and developers you shouldn't support the Steam monopoly.

Problem with epic is the user base and discoverability, theres a lot of cases of games pretty much disappearing from the front pages of the store that a standard user would see, theres no algorithm like steam or gog to show a user what they would likely want to see. Few people will come around this game without searching for it. Sure its a higher percent of money to the devs but its a two way street, why should I support a platform which gives me an inferior experience, no reviews, no forums, no patch notes, no simple controller support. If the devs use some inferior service why do they deserve more money.

Steam is the opposite of a monopoly, they dont hold exclusives, all devs are free to use it or not, they charge more because they offer up a lot more services for gamers and the devs, who else provides free forums, free game servers, mod hosting and discoverability tools as well as they have
