Rennsport Beta 1.6: What Is New In The Update?

A new update is here: Rennsport Beta 1.6 releases on November 24 – but what can sim racers expect, aside from a 15.000 new keys being sent out?

Common criticism about Rennsport focuses on the fact that it is still in Closed Beta and not everyone has access. But 15,000 new beta access keys are releasing with update 1.6. So if you signed up, check your inboxes - you may just be able to play Rennsport!

But of course, that is not all. Along with the key drop, there is an update with new features, new tracks and even a brand new car class.

Rennsport Beta 1.6: All Content

With the two final ESL R1 Fall Season’s online rounds came two new tracks. Road Atlanta – home of Petit Le Mans – and the Daytona Road Course, both icons in American sportscar racing. Both will be available in this new update, potentially with Daytona in its pure speedway configuration.

A causality of Daytona’s inclusion though is the lack of an appropriate area for standings starts. You can do that at Daytona, unfortunately it is not ideal and you just end up with not so great traction whilst stationary on the banking. So as a result of that, rolling starts have been added to Rennsport.

Also with this update are two brand new additions in the shape of TCR cars. We knew two were being added, but not which ones exactly yet. Until now: The Audi RS 3 LMS and Hyundai Elantra N TC, both of which are front-wheel drive and also in iRacing, are new to Rennsport.

Both cars compete in the TCR World Tour, with this year’s champion Norbert Michelisz driving an Elantra. 2012 World Touring Car champion Robert Huff raced an RS 3 and ended up third in the final standings.

All of this plus updated physics are available in the latest update to Rennsport.

When will the update release?

At the time of writing, the ESL R1 Fall Major’s Group Stages are ongoing. The final race is set to wrap up before 18:30 CET, so that is perhaps the most likely time for the update to be available on the Epic Game Store.

Plus, if you want to quickly snag a key code, they are displayed on the broadcast. So head over to the ESL R1 Twitch and YouTube streams to try and quickly redeem a code in record time. Have the Epic launcher open if you do not want to be beaten to the code being redeemed!

@Eckhart von Glan @BearWalken I am a bit confused. I was asking or saying that there is heavy motion blur kind of baked into the game and all of a sudden its about VR vs flat screens? Like seriously? :)
If you can't contribute to the question at hand then why not just keep the fingers away from the keyboard?

It is still way off the competition in term of immersion and sensation when driving (sounds are also terribad), even considering it is still in beta. I just got in with that wave and have to admit that I did not feel anything special making me want to invest time/money into that title at all. I still do not see what it has to offers than other do not.
I guess it will offer pretty much the best visuals once its properly polished and done. But i guess thats also it already.

After testing, the TCRs are nice, as are the sounds, but I've got solo lag on the track without any AI... it's very poorly optimised, the FFB feel isn't bad but it's not rF2, it lacks the grip loss feel and above all no braking feel, and that's no good!
Can we move the seat? I can't find the option!

It is quite a way off at the moment. It looks like UE4 when poorly optimized right now and that's with all presets cranked up to Epic quality...

Just got the key yesterday, after months of waiting. I quite like the physics and overall feel. However, how do you clear a drive-through? I got one in a Daytona race for being too close to the car in front and despite 3 attempts, I could not clear the drive through.
Also, I have to set my FOV over and over again every session. How do you save it?

Except it looks like a blurry mess at 1080p unless I supersample the hell of it, and even then it's still blurry. In the "age of image reconstruction" I have to do the exact opposite to make it even comparable to other sims in terms of image quality.

For me there is no compelling reason to even try this sim. There is nothing unique
(Praga R1?)about the content which can be found elsewhere.
Looks like Rennsport is just a more modern version of Raceroom with a different business model and added Esports.

Ot is hard to find video reviews about this new patch, it is quiet uncommon for a racing game. Even there on RD, 2 pages of comments is low for such an annoucement. The game seems it is is not able to pick up the interest of the community.

It is interesting to see that a free beta results in a worse situation than a paid early access (not officially beta) game. In both cases we should expect the game to be in a good state in between 3 and 5 years. It may be the fact that, once we have paid for a game, we are more motivated to test it, or / and we tend to be convinced more easily by something we paid for. It may be just the result of the initial overconfident communication leading to a full disappointment, although it was predictable the game would come out in that awful state, like every racing game coming out. But in fact it hasn't been released, it's just a beta version, it didn'r come out, and the confusion is there. Really bad communication strategy imo. With all the money spent in events and xommunication i think it would have been better to hire private beta testers or organize beta testing sessions.

On a positive side, graphics seem to have made a huge step up.
