As they further improve, racing games and simulations need more and more hardware performance to make more intricate physics and graphics work. This also means that some sim racers will have a difficult time getting certain titles to run smoothly on their hardware. Luckily, Le Mans Ultimate does not appear to head down that route.

LMU's trailers, including the most recent one, look far from bad - quite the contrary, actually. In case you have started chewing your fingernails yet thinking about whether or not your rig can run the game, feel free to relax. The Le Mans Ultimate requirements are rather low and that goes for the recommended specs as well. Note that they are aimed at running LMU at 1080p using default settings, though.

Le Mans Ultimate System Requirements

MINIMUM:
  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS * : Windows 10 or 11 with latest Service Packs
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-4460 or AMD FX-8120
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: nVidia GeForce GTX 950 or AMD Radeon RX 470
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Network: Broadband Internet Connection
  • Storage: 30 GB available space
  • Sound Card: DirectX Compatible
* Additional Notes: To run on minimal settings at 1080p

Of course, higher settings will require better hardware, but it looks like the starting point is fairly tame - although the specs listed are slightly above those of Assetto Corsa Competizione, for instance. However, ACC's usage of Unreal Engine 4 makes it notorious for being difficult to run smoothly while looking decent on low to mid-range PCs.

LMU is built on the same engine as rFactor 2, which is relatively easy on hardware. In fact, the Le Mans Ultimate system requirements are almost an exact match when compared with those of rF2 - so even "potato hardware", as it is so often referred to, should be able to run LMU decently without problems. We will see for sure once the game hits early access on February 20.

The PC requirements don't seem bad at all... I should be great with my 1080ti! It's just a shame about the lack of VR support, maybe they'll add it later.

Yeah, looking easy on hardware and very nice indeed. Cars are new but
what about the tracks? have they been improved, mesh and graphics?

All we know at present is the Algarve and Fuji and new from the ground up - but we'll hopefully find out more about any other changes soon.

Last time I ran rf2 my AMD7700X and 4090 ran it as poorly as my AMD 5900X and 3090, which ran it as well as my prior PC etc, etc. The recommended specs might run it at lower settings but still with issues. If it is the same codebase as rf2 I will pass. I've read I'm numerous places over the years that rf2s code just can't run current hardware at its limit and that is my experience with numerous PC's.

The good news is, all the YT cannon fodder out there will do this massive day one realese and either beat down on it or tell us all to go and proceed to download from the whish list. I am looking fwd to one certain YTuber to do one of the two above.

I Had every gpu/cpu and no issue with 3090 or 4090, massive boost each time.

I can never get it to max out my hardware and cpu and gpu will only run around 50 - 60% whilst not reaching my fps cap. Also in monitor view when in pits the fps tanks to around 30 - 40. Never been able to find a solution with multiple PCs.

Everyone knows rf2 needs a bloody good cpu and good gpu to run VR, also if you have ever talked with any devs from back when luminous was s397 so the old workers as most have left, they even said VR needs to be updated even said it would take about 6 months to a yr a complete re write as rf2 has moved a lot more forward in certain areas since the inception of VR.
