Gran Turismo 7’s Exhibition Series Special Events Begin 30th December

The ‘Exhibition Series’ versions of the Gran Turismo World Series Nations Cup and Manufacturers Cup will be open to all later this month within Gran Turismo 7.

Think of Gran Turismo 7’s Exhibition Series events as a PlayStation equivalent of iRacing’s special events, and you’d be very close.

A series of events within the ranked Sport Mode online racing section of the game, each is only available on a set day at set times. Entry splits are based on your existing Sport Mode rankings, and there’s an online leaderboard that tracks your progress by local region.

At the end of each series, there’s an in-game credits payout based on your finishing position too.

As ever, there are two main championships in the Gran Turismo World Series – the Nations Cup and the Manufacturers Cup.

These form the basis of the title’s main esports competitions each year, although these ‘exhibition’ events don’t count as qualifiers, more fun tests with the ‘main’ events in a similar structure are expected alongside a 2024 World Series programme next year.

The first of the new exhibition events will be on 30th December 2023 for the Manufacturers Cup using Gr.3 cars around the Nürburgring 24h layout. There will be four events in this series, with the final on 10th January 2024. You must select a brand ‘affiliation contract’ upon entry.

As for the Nations Cup, that begins on 13th January 2023 with Gran Turismo Red Bull X2019 Competitions around Spa-Francorchamps. Once again, there will be four rounds, with the final on 27th January 2024.

New Gran Turismo 7 Content?

Curiously, that final Nations Cup event is the only one without a confirmed car or tack combination. A new game update is expected for Gran Turismo 7 in January to include the Genesis X Gran Berlinetta Vision Gran Turismo at least – we’ll see if any new content will be used for this event early next year.

If you recognise the format for the first two Manufacturers and Nations exhibition events, they are facsimiles of the Barcelona World Series World Finals events from earlier this month.
