F1 23 has been out for just over a week, meaning many laps have been turned since the game's launch. Players have found numerous bugs and potential improvements, which may already be fixed with an update coming in the final week of June.

To get a better overview of what needs to be worked on, EA Sports took to the community, who reported several bugs in the game's official forum. While it may be annoying that these errors are there in the first place, it is nice to see some transparency regarding what is being investigated and worked on.

While the community has raised some minor issues like sponsor decals not appearing on race suits in My Team mode, other bugs affect gameplay in a much more severe way, such as finishing positions being incorrect after red flags or contracts ending before the final race of a season in My Team or framerate drops in night races.

F1 23 - Reported Bugs

Investigating
  • AI slowing to match speed on Quali Inlaps
  • No pitlane limit or distance warning message when using the cockpit cam
  • Low framerate when driving through smoke
  • Hard tyre unavailable after Sprint races in Two-Player Career
  • Time Trial OSD customisation for 'F1 Dial' not saving
  • Logitech TrueForce is unavailable on Xbox
  • Various Force Feedback issues across multiple platforms
Awaiting Patch
  • Contracts end before the final race of the season in My Team
  • Freeze when a player disconnects from an online session (PlayStation)
  • Safety Car and Formation Lap disabled in 25% race distance
  • Braking Point getting stuck at Chapter 7 (When on-screen display is disabled)
  • Unable to invite friends to race using system menus (Xbox & PlayStation)
  • Issues with ghosting cars when ‘collisions off for first lap only’ is enabled
  • Framerate drops during night races
  • Creating a second Career save with F2 causes the game to crash
  • After a red flag, finishing positions can be incorrect
  • Two-player Career uses Equal Performance instead of Realistic performance
  • Driving out of the 11th garage at Monaco causes the car to hit the wall
  • Logitech TrueForce is unavailable (PlayStation & PC)
  • Switching between Performance and Quality modes causes framerate issues (Xbox)
  • Sponsor decals do not appear on race suits and helmets in My Team
  • Virtual rear view mirror stays on screen when looking backwards
  • F1 World goal expires while a bonus goal is active

Issues on the "Investigating" list are being looked into, and those under "Awaiting Patch" will be including in an upcoming update. Note that this does not necessarily mean all of these fixes are going to be included in the next update, but they should be implemented in the near future. For an up-to-date list of bugs and issues, head over to the official thread for community-raised issues on the EA Forums.

No specific date for the next update has been given yet, though it is listed as being expected next week, meaning solutions for some of the problems listed above are not far off anymore.

What scam? If you don't find it worth buying every year, don't buy.
They suggest that VR is working. But when you try it, it's the worst VR implementation in history. I felt scammed when I bought F1 22, all reports about it (hundreds) got all ignored by the developers, not one official comment about it and now with F1 23 they made it even worse I understood from the buyers and they still advertise that VR works properly. It simply doesn't. So I can understand that at least VR users feel scammed.

Yeah, I fell for it last year but not this year. Honestly, they know it doesn’t work in vr. They should just not offer it. If you are going to offer it like that on purpose, it is kinda scam-y.

This arcade game has nothing to do with a serious site that talks about simulation. A strange character on the site finds it to be The greatest simulation, he also finds that VR is grotesque, that it is better to play with a joystick and a 55 inch screen when he would have hardware worth thousands euros, including triple screens, a very expensive steering wheel, that AMS2 is the worst simulation ever (the character talks about it half the time, even when he's on another topic...etc. .. Proof that it's the best Simulation according to him? Well it's the best-selling, so it's proof! What can I say? More and more people like him are found here. Soon we will have right to the defenders of Mario Kart as being the greatest of simulations since they have sold millions and millions of them! We have the impression of no longer being on Racedepartment since the kind of merger with the other site whose name escapes me.
It's too bad.
I have nothing against this beautiful arcade game, maybe it's very funny with a nice controller, but it's not a real driving simulator, just a simulator of F1 rules, F1 circuits , cars that visually look like F1 cars and a big VR scam (probably that's why the character hates VR and spends his time talking bad about it.

We have the right to give our opinion, for my part I find that this arcade game is unworthy of being represented on a site talking about real car simulations, for arcade games there are specialized sites, well more than for real car simulations. Everyone has their own opinion, have a nice day.

Yep, I bought F122 day on 1 based on the lies they were getting their influencers to spread about VR performance, so I'd agree with 'scam'.
Steam VR errors galore and when it it did run for more than a few laps it wasn't good. Started off with a 3070, it was bad, upgrading to a 4090 made little difference. I probably tried about 30 races and half of them just dumped me to the desktop. I'd try it after every patch, all I got out of that was a loss of FFB that never returned. Official forum has many complaints of a similar issue.

And after all that, they raise the price for this year.

VR was not fixed in the previous game, so I don't expect them to improve anything for VR this year either. This is what it is. THey'll improve it for 24... lol I refunded.

Well, fair enough, but there was nothing about VR in the comment I quoted, so I still don't understand why he called it a scam.

And I have the right to give my opinion about your opinion, especially when it's completely unjustified.

For example, tell me, what exactly is wrong with how F1 23 simulates the modern Formula 1 cars?

F1 23 is the best F1 game, without debate, it's pretty cool

If you think this is a scam check out the reviews on the nascar heat 5 2022 dlc...
It's not because there are games even worse than this arcade game that we should be satisfied with it. Here we are talking about F1 2023 or your Nascar???

I think you should indeed start playing Mario Kart.

F1 2023 is a simulation. Good or bad, thats debatable. Get over yourself.
