Or alternatively, there is a free traffic version on here (the AI will overtake and have headons though, f you use traffic planner app, I hear someone has made a line for it, again on here... have a search!

Or if you prefer, jump on a 'Cruisin USA' server if you want to race your friends through traffic online. Choices!

The best mod I've gotten for Assetto, use it all the time to go for nice drives to unwind when I can't drive irl, recently I bought and installed the vip version, and followed all instructions given (multiple times over) but I can't seem to get the traffic working, is there anything I should know?

Thanks MonkeMan... Thanks for the support... You need to choose a Traffic layout, be in RACE mode, select around 20 - 30 AI (or as many as your PC can run) If you have cars stopping, they're running out of fuel... Turn off fuel consumption.

If you run TRACKDAY mode, you only need to run 10 AI as it spawns and despawns infinite traffic around you. again if cars stop in the road, turn off fuel consumption.

Thank you for this master piece. 1.0 was amazing, 1.2 is better. The optimization give a much better VR experience and allows to appreciate all the little details you added every where even more. We are so lucky to have access to such outstanding material, making AC a better SIM.
We should be forever grateful and can only hope you have more coming our way.

There are no words to describe the immense pleasure of driving fast on this track based on the real California roads. The author went crazy when he thought of making this jewel and now we all enjoy his madness. Thanks Phoenix.

Phenomenal project and an awesome update with a zillion small improvements. Good for you for selling more advanced versions while offering such an amazing base track for free. Best of both worlds and the complainers should get a life unless they, too, have offered a track of this quality level for free somewhere. Please provide links...

Awesome track and I can't stress enough how great the VIP content is. I strongly recommend the donation to the creator :) I only wish I could rate this higher than 5 stars. (and a shout out to Jimmy Broadbent for featuring this on his channel so I found out about it :) )

Downloaded the update, joined the release party server, took a Quattro and set out just as it was turning dark, the warm lights of the car lighting up the beautiful roads and scenery, the unbelievable sound of that 5 cyl turbo, the twisty roads and a huracan performante chasing me, both of us going 10/10 the whole lap of the loop. Religious experience, I swear. This is some of the best assetto corsa fun you can have. Bravo Phoenix, amazing job

This is amazing.

I do a lot of sim racing in ACC. It's a lot of fun and all but you know, with setting up the car, focusing on the race and your opponents for half an hour or so, it can be taxing on the mind from time to time.

But when I need to do some chill driving, I boot up AC, hop in a MX-5 or a E92 M3 (something along those lines), put some music at the background and go for a drive in VR.

It's so relaxing to cruise around on these roads, it's exactly what I needed. No lap times. No setups to worry about. It's just the perfect place to unwind. Overall, great job Phoenix77.

One quick question though, I noticed that some of the roads are blocked. I know that if I purchase the VIP pack, they'll be unlocked but would I be able to drive around on those roads if I join a server which is running the "Main" pack or do I have to find a server running the VIP freeroam track?

Thanks turtal for the detailed review, that's a great way to use the Canyons!

The Main & VIP work together online perfectly... So you can find a Freeroam or Mount Lawlor Tourist server (the most common 70+ servers usually use) and drive anywhere... Just those without the VIP won't be able to follow you if you drive along a VIP road.

second rating: with vip its 6 stars worth. again a well deserved coffee - drving into the night is unreal real. now i have the problem with children and wife... daddy is in the canyons again...and again...and again.... THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS MASTERPIECE!!!!!!!!

This mod has spoiled me so much that i can never play anyother map or sim ever again <3. By the way, i cannot make pit stop work, any ideas?

Race Weekends only work for Practice sessions only.... The AI have no access to tyres that can last the required 78 MILES, for an Out / Hot / In lap, so it crashes at Quali.

TL;DR - Wow, A true Masterpiece... accept your own flaws

Story
I first drove on this map about 18 months ago. New to having a wheel and getting into driving in Assetto Corsa with a single decent size monitor and I thought I'd download and play.
I jumped straight into something dumb fast thinking "American roads are so wide and dull, so meh." Drive a few corners, going much too fast, lose concentration, crash and burn. Obviously your fault, map is rubbish. Rinse and repeat for about a week...
Then, with a baby incoming, I move house and can't use my wheel, nowhere to play.
I bought a VR for Christmas and moved again recently, new man cave. Finally I have my wheel set up again and getting back into AC, only now in VR. Downloaded your map again.
Jumped into Shaun Clarke's stellar Ginetta G40 Junior (100bhp whoop whoop) and think I'll go for a drive.
Now I'm in a slow but nice handling car, with all the depth and immersion of VR, with SOL and Ilja's shaders and It's real... I'm on the L.A Canyons, that corner looks sharp, best slow down... focus... concentrate... WOW!
Just spent 20 minutes doing a lap (Never said i was fast) and had to turn off AC to donate and write this. Thank you Phoenix77, thank you... Now I'm going back to L.A... See ya.

The best mod track for a racing sim I've ever seen. Full credit to Phoenix77 and Ben O'Bro for their outstanding contribution through hundreds of hours of work. Do yourself a favor, get the VIP edition, fully worth it and it'll keep contributors like this team motivated to provide us with more enjoyment from AC.

I rarely, as in almost never, rate tracks. There's a lot of work out there, that even if someone put in a lot of time, it just isn't up to standards. LAC wasn't up to standards either in the beginning, and with 1.0 there's still minor stuff left (fixed in the upcoming 1.2) that keeps it from being absolute top quality. But: no one can or should deny the scale of this work, how beautiful it has become, how well it contributes to the available collections of tracks already in AC adding something otherwise missing, and how much diverse fun it can be. It's obviously not a racetrack, being based on real roads, it's not made to challenge the mechanics of a car, not saying that it won't or that you can't race someone at LAC. It's quite simply THE real roads cruise track for any sim in a long time. Do I have to mention it is the best VR track experience available among AC mods too? Up until Fonteny, there was none on this level, and LAC is still #1 if you ask me. Rating this 3 stars or below is just adding insults due personal preferences and denial.
There's really just one major problem with LAC 1.0: how can we rate it with a 6th star when 1.2 arrives?

You say it's not a racetrack.. But I get the feeling the guys planning these roads back in the 1940's had other ideas :D

Buy far my favorite I have to say....environment as its really more than just a track. Its really all I drive on these days, the perfect place for all street cars from a spirited jaunt in sports cars to a nice cruz up to Newcombs Ranch in a muscle car for a burger for lunch ;-) OUTSTANDING work from Phoenix77

Where do you start on a mod that delivers at this level? This is an outstanding experience - and I use that word specifically, as this is precisely what it is. In a single mod, AC is transformed into a driving experience where all of the road cars take on a new fresh context. I find myself wanting to drive everything here. And in VR....Another Level.

With ACC about to get its legs, mods like this are strong reminders that AC is far from done......far far far from done.
