Normally I'd start with a picture of the mod but this is not a normal mod.

WARNINGS

1. If you use a powerful steering wheel, limit the torque. You will flip the Jeep on its side and the steering will hurt you.
2. This vehicle rolls over more easily than anything I've ever released. That includes the Reliant Robin and the Stairtruck. You cannot drive this fast, it will fall over. Before the Ford Bronco got made infamous in the late 80s, the Jeep CJ5 was the subject of numerous successful lawsuits in the late 70s for rolling over and killing people. AMC executives said, essentially, "stop driving it like it's a car. Go slower in corners," and didn't address the top-heavy, narrow track width design, until the later 80s when they introduced the YJ Wrangler.
3. Probably don't bother if you have a gamepad. It has a solid front axle and the steering design is such that it will pull to the right at all times, and swerve heavily over bumps, it's not a mistake, it's just how it drives because of the design.
3. This mod is tested on CSP 0.2.0 (latest available as of mid November 2023). It may work with earlier versions but it will probably crash the game.
4. On CSP 0.2.0, there is a bug with the Suspensions app in combination with some weathers, you cannot start the game with it open. If you do see this error (crashed in RenderMirror) and can't run the game, run another car, close the app, then you can select this one.
5. It might not work on every track. The suspension gets upset sometimes and if it gets too upset the car nopes out of existence. I tested it on Bridgehampton and Silverstone.

Introduction
I had exactly the amount of energy necessary to build a car in 10 days, so I did that. It's a 1976 AMC Jeep CJ5, meaning it's the longer wheelbase version of the CJ5 model that was introduced in 1954. By 1976 it was powered by the 5 litre AMC V8, producing a whole 150 horsepower. Attached to a 3 speed manual transmission with very long final gears. 70s were not a good time for American performance. It'll do 140km/h if you push it down a hill.

Installation
Open the 7z file. Move the contents to assettocorsa\common\cars\.

Secret
If you press CSP Extra Button A, while stationary and clutched in (or in neutral), you may shift the transfer case into low range. This doubles the gear ratios, and it can't really go fast enough to exceed low range's 3rd gear anyway. I would have liked it to also engage 4x4, but couldn't find CSP documentation indicating whether that's possible. Typically this button is Numpad 7 or Alt+Numpad 7 but it can be remapped in Content Manager.

The model is very nice and the physics seem OK, however totally impossible to drive. The problem is that the wheel in-game is not centered to my wheel in real life. Apart from this issue, very nice mod- thumbs up.
Very nice model, different enough to merit a download.

Before anyone kills me for having an opinion (again), let me say this upfront: Everything is good in this mod. Everything. Except for:

1) I know the real car is somewhat wobbly at over 75 km/h but this mod is impossible to drive in a straight line even at speeds below 20 km/h. Overkill.

2) No glass on the front lights. Only the chrome base is there.

3) The driver's head is visible on cockpit view and interferes with the camera positioning. As I'm sure you'll know, t can easily be hidden via the driver3d.ini file and the fact that it was not makes it look like an alpha-level mistake.

4) The 304ci V8 equipped on the CJ-5 had only 117 bhp but had 298 Nm. I don't know where you got your performance values from.

5) Excruciatingly bad shifting animation. This, coupled with the visible head "bug/feature", makes me think that you drive on the third person chase cam view and not on the first person cockpit view.

6) 259 km/h top speed in third gear? Where did you get these gear ratios from?

Overall a neat and well put up model that I thank you for. Fixed almost all of the above for personal use but it would be cool to see a v1.1 to fix the aforementioned problems.

I can say the same to you on #4, where did you find 117 bhp and 298 nm? The numbers I was working from were more like 150 bhp 190 nm. But reviews aren't really a place to discuss.

As Jeremy Clarkson would say: this is a quality item
so much fun!
Premium
Decent enough to drive when it works but can definitely be very unstable due to the car's physics even with the latest CSP; player discretion advised, especially if you're driving this yourself and not using it as AI traffic.
upon my initial drive of the jeep, i found that it does indeed really like turning right. i stopped and thought for a moment. what else only likes turning one way, is built for one specific purpose, and has a roaring american v8? nascar of course. sure they turn left, but if i'm already inclined to turn left to go straight, same thing? i promptly loaded a 40 car grid at daytona, filled with excitement. the monstrous 150hp v8s roared as the timer counted down, but alas my opponents simply turned their wheel when the race started, surely intimidated by the lack of safety measures and intense speeds that would follow. i took off, weaving through my terrified opposition. upon hitting the first corner at a very high rate of speed, the jeep, true to its nature, wanted very much to climb the bank. i fought with the beast, making it around the corner and roaring around the track in 2nd gear. my fellow racers still had not moved, so i attempted to once again weave through the pack. in an unfortunate turn of events, i struck one of my opponents, and the jeep ascended to great heights with great speed. it was an incredible experience, and surely i will return again. i do not believe that a more entertaining vehicle exists to race the tri-oval.
Brown is certainly a color. Unless I'm wrong and it isn't.
