One of the most well-known cockpit companies, Playseat, has partnered up with Formula 1 to create a line of officially licenced simulators for professionals and your average home sim racer.
Playseat is often attributed to entry-level cockpits and sim racers often switch to a Playseat from a desk and clamp setup.
However, these new Formula 1 cockpits look to be a major step up! Within the F1 range, there will be versatile and accessible models to high-end professional simulators.
Cockpits won't be the only element. Individual seats have also been hinted at, implying that the cockpits will have interchangeable elements.

With all the drama and disappointment coming out of F1 Esports this year, this partnership reassures fans that the sport is still devoted and interested in the world of sim racing.
It perhaps is not a guaranteed win, however. Playseat is entering a very competitive market dominated by the likes of Next Level Racing, GT Omega and countless other brands and companies. Playseat has got some competitors in that arena already, with the likes of their 'Formula' and 'Sensation' range of cockpits.
TrakRacer, for example, has an officially licensed Alpine F1 Team cockpit already and during the one and only (to date) F1 Sim Racing event, a sleek Fanatec F1-branded cockpit was used. It is currently unclear if both manufacturers have secured the rights to sell branded devices.
So far, no new designs have been publically released, the example we currently have is simply a reskinned version of their 'Intelligence' range with some slightly updated elements. Similarities can be easily drawn between this and the existing Red Bull cockpit. However, with a range of models promised, expect the roster to grow substantially.
Pre-orders for this new edition are live right now, priced at €2,499, with the aforementioned entry-level models expected later.
