The drivers are the same. But the cars are different. Semi Automatic gear shifts with one hand and the other on the wheel. The driver had more input and control of the car. Nigel retired just as the computers and electronics came into the sport. And now they dominate not just F1 but all levels of top class racing to a extent. I love to watch clasics race where there is limited technology if any. Just pure machinery and skill.
