Which is better??

Hi guys

I a little confused this morning, i currently run a GT440 graphics card that came with my system it uses shared system ram etc. I get around 30-40fps on bathurst after a little tweaking of the setting and this looks quite good. This morning i decided to try my sons GT730 in my system only to find i have a good 10fps drop with the same settings, i installed the latest drivers etc. Have i miss understud the cards as i thought the 730 was a better card or do i need to change anyh settings to see an improvement?? any help would be greatly recived as i am looking to upgrade.

It depends, there are multiple versions of the GT730, the GDDR5 version should be faster, the DDR3 versions are arguably no better. The GT440 also comes in a DDR3 and GDDR5 version so it really depends on which cards you're comparing.

Thank you for your help blkout, the 730 is ddr5 but I'm not sure about the 440. Looks like I'll have to aim a little higher on the upgrade.

In that price range, I would look for a good deal on an AMD R9 270x or AMD 7870. Or if you don't mind buying a used card, you could look for a used Nvidia GTX 670 or 680.

Ok I'll keep my eyes open, just an update the 730 is ddr3 so that might explain the results

For that price (ish) you could get an AMD 270x or an Nvidia 750Ti which would power a single screen ok.

Although if you are going to start spending out it might be worth asking yourself the triple screen question. If you think this is something you might want to do at some point then spending out now on a card that would power them might be worth looking at. This would mean pushing the boat out but would save you in the long run.

Trust me i only say this through personal experience and the hole in my bank account to show it.
