Wheel issues

I just bought a Thrustmaster Ferrari GT Experience, and it arrived yesterday. I've noticed that the Shift Down paddle is very temperamental. It will work for about half a lap, then stop working. I've tried reinstalling the drivers, but still the same problem. Once it stops working, I can't switch into "high sensitivity mode" which requires you to press both paddles and the d-pad.
Have I bought a faulty wheel?
EDIT: It was bought brand new.
EDIT2: Looks like the Shift Down paddle is now completely broken.
EDIT3: It's working again, but will probably break in a few minutes.

Just wondering, did you map out all your buttons,shifter and pedals in control settings? If you have and problem still persists I would go and exchange the wheel. Maybe a Logitech DFGT?

Yes, I did map them.
I'm thinking of getting a G25 soon, but until then I'm just using a different button for changing down.
