Sound mods not working

Guys, I couldn't find a thread for this problem. Everything is working fine, I use a sound mod and it doesn't work. I can't see what I'm doing wrong!
I get the feeling I'll be kicking myself once I find out! Be gentle

guids.txt missing? Just guessing but can't do more than guess with 0 info

Basically, every sound mod I download and install doesn't work. All engines sound gone.
I don't do anything other than drag and drop the mod.
It's so bizarre I can't even start to find a fix!

Install it manually instead, then it'll work if you do it right.

There have been many times I had to delete the 2 SFX files FIRST, then copy the new ones into the folder.

OK, that's a new idea. I didn't think of deleting first.
