Sequential or H shift

Excuse my ignorance, am I right in thinking that most race cars use sequential gears. I know most open wheelers use paddle but what about stock car etc. Cheers

Depends on what kind of stock cars you mean. Brazilian stockcars V8 for example use a sequential stick shift.

Not many series I know use H shifter unfortunately. Would be the first mandatory rule to bring back to motorsport when I succeed Jean Todt at the FIA one day (trololo)

Almost all of the GTL cars would be H Shift.

They should be yeah but somebody needs to tell Codemasters that they are.

You mean H-Pattern, I believe? I think they had it till the early ninetees.

Formula Trucks use h-pattern as well

Most 80`s F1 had H-Shifters, only Ferrari got paddles in 88` I think. Some early 90`s F1 still had H-Shifters aswell, mostly lower tier teams and I think Williams.

Ah so that was not common? I remember Wendlinger's March with a nice wooden shifter.

just when I'm playing F1, on the classic cars they seem to be using a gear stick of some sort plus I have the option of hshifter, sequencial and paddles so when playing F1 latest cars I obviously use paddles, when playing GSC 2013 I'm trying sequencial on stock car and paddle on the open wheelers so it looks like the Hshifter is redundant at the moment.
