F1 2011 replay folder tweak?

OK, I have been reading about some users changing this file to read only and also about a further tweak involving relocating it all together. I am on a 120gb harddrive with 8 gigs of system ram. I have already set the file to read only and it did seem to make things a little bit smoother. Mt question is, with my amount of ram, is the other tweak even needed? It seems kinda confusing and it mentioned something about putting it on another hard drive. I only have an external drive as a back up so I doubt that would be a suitable drive to use.

If you want to watch replays than move the file to another hard drive but not external on USB 2.0 because you will never get the speed of SATA. If you have eSATA interfce HDD than it is ok. No need to move the file if you don't watch the replays

This is supposed to cure stuttering frame rates too. Regardless of whether you actually watch the replay or not, the game is still saving it incase you want to, right? thanks for trying though.
