Months back we were the first to report about the possibility of the World Rally Championship getting a virtual counterpart equipped with iOpener Enabled technology, making it possible for gamers at home to drive in real-time against the real WRC drivers from the comfort of their own home.
Today the iOpener team took a second step in their development as the first tests have taken place during the WRC stages at the Rally of Germany in Trier.
Four SWRC and JWRC cars got the technology on board that provide the needed data for the tests. Among them were former KNAF Talent First drivers Kevin Abbring and Hans Weijs Jr. Nice detail is that Kevin used to drive with us online in 2006 with the first RACE game of SimBin.
The WRC test will enable further evolution of the iOpener Enabled technology towards the production of an iOpener Enabled WRC game in the future.

And the Japan Rally Championship in the days of the 1994 champion Isao Momote
If a game would use iOpener, it would probably be pretty realistic. Otherwise, what's the point? Therefore, I'm anxiously awaiting rally games that will use this :rally:
