Great day for racing - good car and great track !
R1 had my typical slow start and found myself in a battle with Andreus and Christopher for 4th
Finally by lap 5, passed both and finished race in a lonely 4th. Could not catch the faster three cars ahead.
R2 had a tight start into the first few corners but found myself in 3rd half way through lap 1.
Sorry to Christopher for the slight bump in turn 2. Waited till he was going again and by that time i was 7th. After a quick spin, I settled down and worked on smooth laps.
Lap3 I was 6th. Lap 5 was 5th. Lap 10 was 4th. Again no time left to chase the top three.
Congrats to the podium and thanks to Dennis for maintaining Retro Saturdays

Yep, some good racing this morning for me. :)
I've not driven the Retro cars before, so picked the Mini to see how it compared to the GTL version which I'm familiar with. Also, thought it appropriate to use a British car since were on a British track. ;)

For a while, during practice, I suspected Yves might be foxing with me. Every time I put in a good 'ish lap, Yves would immediately go out and lop another 0.1 secs off it. Even during Qualy, when I knocked 0.5 secs off my PB, Yves then quickly took another 0.01 secs off it. As it turned out, during the races, our lap times were almost identical, despite both driving very different cars.

In Race 1, I managed to jump Yves off the line ( not what I expected from the Mini :O_o: ), and this proved decisive. We had a fantastic race, nose to tail all race, with David in his BMW also hanging on to us for the first half. David must have had a spin somewhere, leaving Yves and I to slug it out. I managed to fend Yves off, but I had to drive the wheels off the little Mini to keep ahead.

Race 2, with a reverse grid, proved more hectic over the opening laps, but after a few laps it was David, Yves and I out front again, but with the order reversed. David was doing a sterling job in the lead, and it was only about lap 9 or 10 that Yves passed him, and then David had a spin out of the hairpin letting me past. I made a few little mistakes this time and wasn't able to catch Yves, so he got his revenge with the win this time. :ninja: Another good battle though. :p

All in all, very enjoyable. These Retro cars are not quite the GTL experience for me, but still good fun to race. Thanks to all who joined, and thanks to Dennis for organising. I hope we get to see more racing in these Retro's, they could be very entertaining, especially with a bigger turnout.
