Sports car racing will see the return of an iconic brand as McLaren has confirmed they will enter the GT3 category. The MP4-12C will be supplied to a number of private European teams.
The car will be seen first in 2012 in the FIA GT3 European Championship. A series promoted by SRO that is rapidly rising to the same competitive level as the FIA GT1 World Championship.
The customer McLaren MP4-12C, to be launched in 2011, will feature a carbon fibre composite chassis, and will be powered by a mid-mounted McLaren M838T 3.8-litre V8 twin-turbo engine developing approximately 592 bhp and around 601 Nm of torque.
The specs of the GT3 sports car have not been revealed yet.
