Intel Xeon vs I7

Hi people



Im currently looking to upgrade a freinds pc to a i7 cpu but I have heard the Intel Xeon E3-1220V2 3.1 GHz S1155 8mb cache is just as good as the i7 but the xeon dosent have any on board graphics and u can't overclock it, bt my question is. Which is the chip to buy I7 or Xeon

Aldo the I7 is about £250 and that xeon is £165

Xeon is for servers basically. BTW Intel Haswell is just around the corner, so you might want to wait a bit.

I know the intel xeon are mainly server chips but u can use them in home pcs, bt would it be as good as a i7 cause the xeon still has 8 threads like the i7?
