Alain Prost stands next to his Ligier after a puncture caused by a contact with Senna ended his race in Hockenheim.

PROST: "HE RUINED MY RACE!"

Reigning World champion, Ligier's Alain Prost was furious after the German Grand Prix held at Hockenheimring. After a poor qualifying session which had seen The Professor setting only 10th fastest time, he had come out fighting in the race. One by one the man carrying number one on his Lamborghini powered car had passed drivers to catch fellow championship contenders Senna and Piquet who were leading the race.

By lap 38 of 45 Prost had finally caught up with leader Senna after dispatching Piquet a few laps earlier. Senna however was not going to yield. The two battled fiercely for a few laps with the Frenchman desperately looking for an opening.

On lap 41 Prost made his move. Coming into the Agip-kurve Prost dived to inside and passed his Brazilian teammate.

Almost. Senna, clearly not expecting a move cut right in and clipped Prost's left rear tyre causing a puncture and destroying his own front wing in the process. Prost was sent spinning into the gravel trap whereas Senna drove into the pits to get himself a new front wing.

"What was he thinking? He saw me coming when I made the move and was clearly in front at the moment of the contact. What he did was extremely dangerous and reckless", said very furious Prost. When asked about whether he thought Senna's move was deliberate, he responded:

"Absolutely. He has done it 100% deliberately. That, I don't accept."

"I didn't expect him to make the move. I took the same line I had done the previous laps and he knew perfectly well what I was doing. He can't expect others to make room for him where he wants"
, responded Senna to the accusations of intentional contact.
