The DRM Modding Team have released a lengthy video showcasing the outstanding looking Work in Progress DRM Revival Mod for Assetto Corsa.

The Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft (or DRM as it is more commonly known) was a German auto racing championship for high performance Group 2 touring cars that featured a number of manufacturer backed and privateer run touring car and GT teams throughout the 1970's and early 80's. Consisting of an array of stars and cars from Group 2 touring car, Group 4 GT and later the inclusion of the Group 5 specification monsters which styling and sheer aggressive energy still resonate with many racing fans throughout the world today.

The series ran for 15 very successful years under a variety of different regulations and rule sets until eventually finding itself running out of steam and money at the end of the 1985 racing season, closing it's doors and quickly slipping into the history books as one of the most outrageous and spectacular racing series ever held.

With the DRM championship having benefitted from such a wonderful and exotic mix of some of the very best race car engineering feats of the 70's and 80's, it feels like a scandal that no professional video game developers have stepped up to bring a full re-enactment of the once great championship to it's own game (ok Sector3 have the Group 5 cars in RaceRoom, but it's still got a whole load of cars missing to make a full DRM season).

Step up the DRM Modding Team.

The people behind this mod have been furiously working away for several months now to bring together a substantial collection of cars that raced within the DRM championship between 1972 and 1985, creating a stunning collection of Division 1 and Division 2 Group 5 racing cars for the Assetto Corsa simulation. Already in game and receiving the fine touches required to bring together a full version one release, the DRM Revival Mod is looking like it could well become one of the best mod releases ever seen for Assetto Corsa.

In order to celebrate the development progress of the project the DRM Modding Team have released this special 17 minute trailer video showcasing all the cars out on track, and man does it look good!

The following cars are expected to form the full version one release:

  • BMW 2002 Turbo
  • BMW 320S
  • BMW M1 Turbo
  • Facetti/Finotto 308 Carma.
  • Lancia Beta Turbo
  • Porsche 935 K3
  • Porsche 935 k1
  • Toyota Celica LB Turbo
  • Zakspeed Escort
  • Zakspeed Capri Turbo
These spectacular Group 5 racing vehicles will surely provide a challenging and exhilarating experience behind the wheel as you look to plant the throttle and convert the considerable horsepower into forward propulsion from the massive rear tyres.

With the series having been home to many major international drivers throughout it's history, the DRM Modding Team will be recreating a number of period liveries for each car, allowing sim racers to recreate some of the most epic racing battles of the time. With drivers the calibre of Hans-Joachim Stuck, Klaus Ludwig, Rolf Stommelen and Bob Wollek alongside some of the most amazing cars ever raced, I simply cannot wait to try this mod out myself, it should be epic...

Assetto Corsa is a racing simulation designed by Kunos Simulazioni and is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The DRM Revival Mod is due for a release mid way through 2017.

At the beginning of this thread, @Paul Jeffery described these cars as: "The Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft (or DRM as it is more commonly known) was a German auto racing championship for high performance Group 2 touring cars that featured a number of manufacturer backed and privateer run touring car and GT teams throughout the 1970's and early 80's. I've been promising myself to look into whether these are the cars which fit into the All American GT (AAGT) class or the GTX class of IMSA's Camel GT series, which ran from about 1975 to 1982. If that is true, given appropriate skins, these cars would be historically accurate (if that is the desire) and all of the tracks used in that series. Here is a list of all the circuits used in the IMSA GT Championships: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_IMSA_GT_Championship_circuits

I could be completely wrong. Trying to reconcile the alphabet soup of American vs. European racing classes always has been a challenge.:O_o: That said, If they ARE the same cars, I remember it as one of the best and most colorful race series in the US, maybe even the equal of the old Trans-Am and Can-Am series ... and a whole lot of great old racing stories. BTW ... I have slides!
I think IMSA had a slightly different regulation to FIA's hence why there was a separate IMSA class at Le Mans in the 1970s regardless if their car had the same engine. My best bet at figuring out the differences are the regulations by IMSA (link) and FIA (link and link)

From what I've heard, IMSA equivalency formula rounded off at 2.5 whereas FIA's ended at 2.0

One of Ford's GTX Mustang was, in fact, a rebodied Zakspeed Capri, finishing 2nd overall in the 1981 Norisring Trophy driven by John Paul Jr. (link). It had the same engine as the Div. 1 Capris. Plus a number of ex-DRM 935s found their way into IMSA later in their career.

Is it too late for my brain (1:17am) or are the announced class / power ranges not explained in the PDFs?

And what's the 1 and 2 for most of the cars?
I fail to see differences in the power specs.

Sorry, it's late and I purchased this, the 2018 Hybrid, and i shipped dome donations to our track gurus .. dunno what to play first :roflmao:

Just installed. Everything is amazing, but not getting great FFB from my logitech wheel on some of the cars, The Escort is good and the Capri is ok but I dont feel like Im getting much through the front tyres on the other cars but i do get a good feeling of what the rears are doing. The carma feels really disconnected like a boat at the front. How is other people FFB experience?

Scratch that, Im not sure if logitech profiler is playing up for some reason. I am losing center spring and resistances between drives, once even during a drive. Strange..

Jumped into the 'totally not a 1M' and this thing is LEGIT!!!! The tires feel amazing as the car moves around under you, going up the esses at Watkins Glen is a thrill, might be more fun that snorting coke off a strippers ass. (and that usually costs far more than the $19 I paid for this mod)

For some reason, the shopping cart does not work properly. dies not increment the euro value, and even when one types it in, it keeps giving an error indicating that the cart is empty...WTF :-(
Doesn"t work in Chrome as it sems.
Quite underwhelmed by FFB, poorly animated exhaust flames and low res textures in interiors.
3 out of 5 overall, still fun cars to drive.

I guess the impressions will be all over the place depending on the car you try. 1M (RMT) is awesome,
Puriano is not so much.Still great. Totally worth $19, hopefully some fixes will come down the road, like better flames animation and more consistent jerk free FFB.
Thanks guys for awesome work! That will keep us all busy for quite a while. :)
