I had a similar issue trying to mod a car. Basically if you're altering a mod (changing the rims on a car for example) I loaded the parts car into Blender, deleted everything from it that I didn't need and then loaded the car for modding into Blender and deleted the rims, basically everything that's a part of each car has a name, and if the name is the same between both cars Blender renames it for you (like rims_RF and rims_RF.001).

That can mess with the car data and it may crash your game or just not work at all. If you're modding a car make sure you go through everything in Blender (or whatever program you're using) and delete the parts you don't need and rename anything's that's left so it's just rims_RF.

It happened to me with the gauge needles, because both car gauges were named the same Blender changed the needles I was wanting to keep to throttle_arrow.001 which is why the game couldn't find the fuel indicator, it was named different in the KN5 files and the .ini file.
