General Basic of modding

Hello everyone,

I've recently started playing Assetto Corsa and have developed an interest in creating mods.
My idea is to create custom events for the tracks, such as reading car data to determine when they are on the gravel, and triggering specific events accordingly. However, I'm unsure where to begin, even though I have some programming knowledge that might be useful for certain tasks.
