I DID not use that technique for my rotary buttons.

For filament prints you can specify a layer to change filament. For those knobs I made sure that the filament change was for the raised letters.

Technically I could do that for recessed letters, but that would require two filament changes and leave a stripe. I had never thought about that before. Hmm....
