On the evening of Monday, 6 November, Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games came together to announce all the new goodies fans can expect for Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon 5 in November. Here is everything you need to know this month.

In the latest Let’s Play! stream from Microsoft Games, the teams divulged information on the Forza Motorsport Update 2. Including a brand new circuit, several car additions, a selection of Career Mode challenges and the first DLC Car Pass, there is plenty to dive into concerning this controversial game.

Yas Marina in Forza Motorsport

Prior to the game’s release, Turn 10 outlined a schedule for post-launch content and updates. Those with a good memory will remember that mid-November was always set for the addition of the Yas Marina circuit. Home to the Abu Dhabi GP, the location will feature four layouts in Forza Motorsport: Full Circuit, North Corkscrew, North Circuit and South Circuit.

A free update for all, the circuit will find itself in Builders Cup events. In fact, even championships and races featuring in the game from the get-go will get shuffled to include the new track.

Forza Motorsport Update 2 Cars

In addition to the brand new circuit coming to Forza Motorsport, this latest update will also feature a selection of cars. Not only does the first quartet of Car Pass models release alongside the update. The title will also receive a number of models free for all players.

In fact, for the next 30 weeks, players that spent extra cash on the Car Pass will receive a new car every week. In the latest announcement, Turn 10 has announced the first four. This Fantastic Four will release throughout November and into December. Here are the cars one can expect in the pack this month.
  • 1965 Lotus #1 Team Lotus Type 40
  • 2019 McLaren #03 720S GT3
  • 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT3
  • 2019 Peugeot #7 DG Sport Compétition 308
Starting from 16 November, one car will release every week. Players can expect 26 more models releasing into 2024.

Elsewhere, Forza Motorsport players will also get a number of cars for free over the next months or-so. These will feature as so-called ‘Spotlight Discounts’ in the Autoshow at certain dates. However, they will be available from Day One of Update 2 in Forza Motorsport. Here is the list of eight new FM models.
  • 2013 Aston Martin V12 Vantage S
  • 2016 Lamborghini Aventador Superveloce
  • 2017 Mazda MX-5 Cup
  • 2011 Bugatti Veyron Super Sport
  • 2017 Saleen S7 LM
  • 2016 Spania GTA Spano
  • 2020 MG #20 MG6 XPower
  • 2022 Gordon Murray Automotive T.50

This addition of new cars is sure to give a new lease of life to the game. However, do not expect these fast cars to upgrade any faster. Whilst last update improved the car levelling grind for tuning, it did not perfect the system. Players are still experiencing long levelling processes when it comes to winning Car XP in Forza Motorsport. It seems Update 2 will not address the issue further, with no mention of the problem in the Game Fixes notes.

Forza Horizon 5 American Automotive

Alongside the Forza Motorsport announcements, Playground Games jumped in to provide Forza Horizon 5 fans with news on November’s Festival Playlist. As with every month, November will have its own theme; American Automotive.

This means that fans will get a whole month of motoring Americana in the Playlist rewards and challenges. Furthermore, a new Car Pack will drop alongside the next Forza Horizon 5 update. The four cars among the newest Car Pack are:

  • 2017 Saleen S7 LM
  • 1961 DeBerti Ford Econoline ‘Shop Rod’
  • 2020 Chevrolet Silverado LT Trail Boss
  • 2024 Czinger 21C
Speaking of new cars, players can get their hands on some legendary new cars by claiming enough points in each week’s Festival Playlist. In week one, 20 points will get you the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 whilst 40 will reward you the 1964 Plymouth Belvedere. Week 2 and 20 points gets one 1966 Chevrolet Nova Super Sport, the 1968 Pontiac Firebird comes at 40 points. In Week 3, the Lucid Air Sapphire and 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge come at 20-40 points respectively. Finally the 2010 Rossion Q1 and 1962 Lincoln Continental complete the month’s reward cars.

However, the biggest news of the American Automotive month is the return of the Stadium’s oval circuit. The month’s update will also include a number of fixes and the addition of two new race routes. As ever, the playlist will include races, challenges, treasure hunts and Rivals events, most definitely making use of the newest circuits.

Hm, there are two patchnotes lines i would like to see
" - improved tarmac and terrain/gras textures."
" - fixed broken car shaders"

What is this obsession with performance and top of the line cars? Why can't they just add something...regular? I mean the game has performance upgrades, so why not add cars that the majority actually relates to? It's fun making a slow car FAST.

This game is really only built for Xbox, given it's really poor PC performance. So many bugs still exist, including the inability to save games after upgrading performance, tuning, forcing you to replay the last Career race.

Given how popular the casual motorsports experience is around here... I expected more comments and positivity...

Is it really that bad?

I was thinking of trying it out later this month...
