The upcoming 24 Hours of Le Mans and World Endurance Championship racing simulator continues to reveal new content, with the Vanwall Vandervell 680 showcased for Le Mans Ultimate.

The Vanwall Vandervell 680 has followed the likes of the Ferrari 499P and Peugeot 9X8 by being revealed in-game for Le Mans Ultimate.

This time around, while we are bereft of finer details and gameplay footage, a series of four still images has been published by the Motorsport Games-led project.

That creation context is key, as the Austrian-German team’s Hypercar – that has been denied a 2024 season FIA World Endurance Championship entry despite plans to switch engines – is already available for the rFactor 2 platform developed by the same Studio 397 team.

However, based purely on these latest images, the model looks to have a significant increase in fidelity over the version seen in the venerable sim racing platform.

In fact, despite initial impressions, it has been confirmed to OverTake/RaceDepartment that the 680 has been rebuilt from the ground up for Le Mans Ultimate.

This follows a similar development process to the LMP2 Oreca 07 – long available for rFactor 2, the version seen in the upcoming official 24 Hours of Le Mans title is a fresh creation with data from the French race car manufacturer.

Spa-Francorchamps is once again used here for LMU teaser shots. It was unveiled in September that the venue would feature the current run-off areas and buildings, such as the grandstand at Raidillon.

The independent outfit, that acquired the rights to use the historic Vanwall name, experienced a rocky real-world 2023 World Endurance Championship season. A revolving door of drivers included João Paulo de Oliveira, Ryan Briscoe, Tom Dillmann and 1997 Formula 1 champion Jacques Villeneuve.

Only Argentinian and 2019 FIA World Touring Car Cup runner-up Esteban Guerrieri lasted the whole season behind the wheel for the Colin Kolles-run squad.

For Le Mans Ultimate, that means the Cadillac V-Series.R and Glickenhaus SCG 007 LMH are yet to be showcased from the top category. At the same time, in the GTE class the Chevrolet Corvette, Porsche 911 and Aston Martin Vantage are so far absent.

The platform is set for release on 20th February 2024 on PC via Steam with 2023 WEC season content.

Too bad this will have GTEs then /s ;)
i thought this coming season its the gt3s called lmgt3? since the gte's are done.
or was the "/s" for that? i am not sure the sarcasm refers to you writing the class intentionally wrong or if it refers to "too bad" :D
ah now i read it wont feature the 2024 season at launch, so ok, gte's are in.

so if it isnt going to race in 2024, why put it in the game? i thought it was going to be a realistic simulation of the WEC championship

You all are gonna have to divorce rF2 from LMU. Also this car is to be included in the core sim, so what? Do you get a price break on the full title cuz you have the Floyd? What about the 3rd party Glick & Porsches & Ferraris? Heck before long S397 will have to pay you to take the title. You got an Oreca? A Corvette? 488 etc etc. When does it stop? Le Mans track? I have two different 3rd party Fujis, do I get a double discount? For that matter I bought BTCC cars & tracks, that oughta be worth something from S397...
i purchased rfactor 2 today for $10au as it was 75% off on steam, then i noticed i need to spend $400-500au to get all the tracks and cars... f*** that

It's replicating the 2023 season for now which is why it will also have Sebring, Portimão and Monza. From what I've seen the plan is that future seasons will be added in a similar way to ACC with the 2024 season being added (likely as paid DLC) later next year. Remember that before being delayed, the game was expected to have already been released by now so it was never realistically going to have the 2024 content at launch

you don't. If you want to race online you WILL need every track that is being used. But if you join a series that uses, for example, the BTCC fleet: Then you only need one car from that group. The rest can be installed at the menus and will allow you to join races. You can only drive cars you own, but you won't need the rest of the cars to compete.
Plus, just about every week there is a selection of races that use default cars and tracks so NO COST at all. Just depends which events you want to participate.

When I hear "rebuilt from the ground up" these days:

It's 100% sure that we will convert LMU content to rf2 and bye bye or the opposite...anyway only one will survive

You ask me, will I be driving it?

No, and no one else will be either. We all should already know that all this motorsports games talk is just that.. talk.. empty, meaningless talk. Please go back to playing your favorite racing sim and stop waiting for these imaginary racing titles from this fake developer.

AMS2 has had almost 4 years of post release development, and it still has missing/incomplete/broken features.

Whats worse is that rF2 has had 10 years of post release development and is in some ways, even worse.

Does anyone really think this game is going to have 4 years of post release development, let alone 10? I think the odds are NO. I don't think that is unreasonable considering the financial circumstances involved with Motorsports Games.

So ... what we are dealing with is a game, based on a previous broken game, with cars that are a year old, some which won't even be in the 2024 season, that has been delayed, already, to the fullest extent it could to be before the WEC season, coded by a studio that hasn't been able to fix basic things in Rf2 in 10 years 5 years, published by a bankrupting company, and there is very little expectation to have enough post release development to half way fix anything new that is broken let alone the things that were already broken in rf2 and carried over.

I'm watching a train wreck about to happen, while others are waving their arms up and down so the conductor will blow the horn.

s397 has taken rF2 in 2017, REIZA has started work on Madness engine in 2019....same ? almost the same, in since few months ago in AMS2 the suspension are not broken...4 years to fix a bug not present in Project cars 2....congratz
