TechArt Launches Official GTstreet R Mod for Assetto Corsa

Sports cars are an exclusive matter, even more so if they are produced in extremely limited quantitites. The TechArt GTstreet R is no exception - yet, sim racers can still get their hands on the lightweight rocked based on a Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S in Assetto Corsa: TechArt has released an official mod of the car for the simulator.

Despite the GTstreet R being road legal, its specs read like those of a track day car: Close to 800 bhp mean top speeds of about 350 kph (217 mph) combined with lightweight body parts, interior and wheels show that the car means business. The GTstreet R is limited to just 87 examples, so driving, let alone owning one will remain a dream for most.

All of the Fun for None of the Cost

Luckily, sim racing allows enthusiasts and motorsport fans to drive just about anything anywhere, and with the official GTstreet R mod, the high-tech aero monster that used to be a Porsche can even be pounded around the Nürburgring, for example - all without having to worry about astronomical cost and repair bills.

Unlike the real car, the Assetto Corsa mod is entirely free. It comes with a variety of body colors and configurations, and has been fine-tuned to match the characteristics of the real vehicle as closely as possible.

You can grab the official mod on the TechArt website by scrolling almost all the way down to the bottom of the website and learning about the car along the way.

Your Thoughts

How do you like the more extreme version of the 911 Turbo? Would you like to see more manufacturers release their cars virtually as well? Let us know in the comments below!

Now it's getting a bit ridiculous... The GT Street R was commissioned by Techart themselves. Guerrilla Mods did the commission. The idea that this is a scam just makes the whole comment column even more ridiculous. Incomprehensible....‍

We got sent a press release by a trustworthy source, so we operate under the assumption that what they are offering is legal. If it is not, that is on the those who offer the mod in the first place and tag it as official content - it is not (and cannot be) RD's job to check every last file for its originality.
Simply put: If a manufacturer releases a mod as official content, they take responsibility for its integrity.
I'm sure it's all legal and I'm not insinuating otherwise.

The model is credited to Ben Baron, so it's probably immaculate. Guerilla Mods just don't have the best reputation around here as they used to encrypt their mods, which never inspired trust in them, and it would have been prudent of you as a journalist to at least have a look at the mod and mention the mod group as a service to your readers if you like.

This mod is NOT encrypted btw, and I'm not saying anything about its quality since I haven't driven it yet.

Thanks for clarification.
Pardon for my ignorance, will try and catch up later digging in the project.

Out of the loop here. What's wrong with Guerilla Mods?
Nothing is wrong with Guerilla mod team, they are a great mod team and have graced us with great addition to AC over the years.
The only thing wrong are the puerile comments and unbelievable level of negativity in this thread (and many other).
The mod looks great and drive great. When used with the latest CM wizardry, AC shines as one of the great SIM of 2023.
Thank you for the news @Yannik Haustein :)

It's almost incredible to see mods come out with official manufacturer support. A few years ago this would have been unimaginable, at least for me.
Not that incredible, but too rare, especially considering the simracing.community has grown a lot over the last years. But also the racing sport community it seems.

It is hard to find a reason for a manufacturer or a car tuner to make this happen. Notoriety is the main goal here, as it won't make this car sale more ; but I ddn't know.about TechArt and this car before this article, so goal achieved. Notoriety attracts more people : I've learned about a brand and a car, I want to know more, watch events with this car so... competition znd sponsors get more visibility... more money at the end.

4 old examples of this kind of operation come to my mind :

- the BMW free game with Simbin, with, in this case, street cars ; it was a way to test your future car, I found that clever on its time and thought it would become.a thing ; I was wrong.

- I almost forgot Volvo the game, again with Simbkn, for free, a good way to promote the brand and tontest your future car.

- the Copa Petrobas de Marcas free game, great communication tool to promote Brazilian motorzports and Reiza's work on its games.

- Not sure about thus one, whether it was a communication operation or whether ISI paid licenses. the 2006 and 2007 F1 Sauber BMW for rfactor, from a deal with Intel to promote its CPUs, being a sponsor of BMW Sauver at that time ; I don't know the deal details but is seems this time this wasn't a xar manufacturer operation but a major components manufacturer (and the 2006 car was removed later due to license expiration, from what I read). F1 2008 Sauber BMW was added but it the special 2008 rfactor edition, not for free then.

- The free Ferrari Virtual Race game with Synetic as developpers (good World Racing 2 game and the Crash Time series). The publisher was Ferrari. Not sure about what Ferrar tried to do, to promote its modern vehicules maybe. One year later came out Ferrari Vittual Academy developped by Kunos, but not for free.

In the recent years, some other examples occured but I can't remember which ones. This kind of initiative is always welcome and like a love letter to the motorsport fans. I'm surprised it did not become a common thing. Well, at the moment, manufacturers are in the position to sell licenses and companies are willing to pay. But that's different. I would assume that a big manufacturer, after having sold licenses to several developpers, could decide to make its new car, the day of its launch, available in all its clients sims, as a gesture towards them and towards the fans. As we can see with this release, the gesture comes from a car tuner because it gives it more exposure.

Well I can't find the link in their website. Am I the only one?
No. I scoured that page multiple times and couldn't see any link. It was out of pure stubborness as I already had the mod from the link given in the article here.

A bit 'topic adjacent' but I heartily recommend Guerilla Mods' Opel Kadett BLASL. Immense fun and the AI aren't terrible in it either.

Yeah, they really didn't make it easy and hid the link very well. you just have to scroll to the bottom of the page. a really tricky thing.Screenshot_20230704-181328_Firefox.jpg
