Rennsport To Feature AUDI R8 LMS GT3 Evo II in Closed Alpha

GT3 sim fans across the world rejoice once again as the new-kid-on-the-block Rennsport announced the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II to be featured in its Closed Alpha from now on.

On October 31st 2022 Rennsport announced on Twitter that they would feature the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II from now on in their closed alpha.

This seems to not be the end of the cooperation, however, as Rennsport mentioned in their tweet: "We are very proud to welcome @AudiOfficial to the #RENNSPORT family."

While this welcoming message may seem to be just that, a friendly welcome, it seems to imply the licensing contract goes beyond just this one GT3 model.

We do have to await, however, in which direction Rennsport will go as a simulation as in featured content. Currently, the main focus lies on GT3s as seen by the included Porsche 911 GT3 and BMW M4 GT3. However, with the inclusion of the Porsche Mission R, a concept more akin to RaceRoom or rFactor 2 with many different classes of cars seems likely as well.

The main direction right now seems to be Grand Tourers though. With this in mind, it is not far-fetched to assume the inclusion of GT2s sooner or later. This would allow both Porsche and Audi to include their homologized GT2 vehicles in the German simulator. Keep in mind this is only speculation, however.

A clear direction for at least the alpha and beta states of Rennsport seems to form, however. With this manufacturer being the third to be featured in the sim as well as the third German car builder, it seems like the Munich-based studio incorporates a strategy of involving their local economy first and foremost. Whether this is just a pre-release flair of the simulator remains to be seen.

on UE3 still looks like a mobile game
It's UE5, ACC is on UE4. Unreal Tournament was on UE3.
Skybox looks nice, the rest is well, it's alpha build after all, don't be too critical.
Not sure though if even with all the polishing it'll get to ACC level, and if not, why bother. :O_o:

agree, would be nice DTM era, Super GT and old stuff, I dont know what physics they have but I really think and wait of a RallyCross game

They made the wrong choice engine/rendering wise. It looks even more blurry then ACC and the level of detail pop-in looks way worse than ACC(shadows/fences, what the ....). It will be (close to) impossible to get this to look good in VR. So a big disappointment for me.

They will not surpass ACC, Kunos is that good; that's what I expect at least.

So I'm not sure why they chose to develop this title with their first/main focus on GT3.

They should have done 2 things:
- Choose for a engine that renders good in the distance and that doesn't have level of detail pop-in.
- Come up with original content instead of copying what's already available and executed VERY good by the competition.

What did they do? The opposite.

Why? Don't know, I don't get it.

tbh you need to compare what you see now from rennsport with the early access build of ACC back in the day in sept 2018 and i can tell you that this here looks way way better. And maybe even this is not a fair comparison as Rennsport is not open for public yet.
ACC is four years old by now, you can't expect the Rennsport alpha to look as good if not better.
Also they dont need to surpass anybody, not ACC, not iRacing, they only need to carve a place for themselves and there is always enough room in the simracing market, plus all sims except ACC are really old by now, so a fresh new kid on the block might be just the thing.

the whole "looks like a mobile game" comments are ridiculously wrong.

I’d agree if they make their own place on the market however currently it seems like it has the buying each car from iracing with the car selection of ACC.

Comparisons are easy when it fits into a pre-occupied spot in the market.

Nothing impressive so far. Usual GT3 cars, sound is very poor and I have seen better graphics on mobile games. Yes its an alpha build but both AC/ACC/AMS2 were far polished than this at that stage. UE is great but only if you know what your doing with it. Too many visual glitches and bugs on "EPIC". There is a lot of work to be done.......

AMS2 is much newer than ACC, and it is a sim
i don't agree. it's basically a reskinned pcars 2 as far as visuals go and they still have old ghosts haunting them in the physics from pcars 2 as well...
doesn't mean it's not pretty, but it's not "new" in the narrow sense of the word.

Also we already have a game built on PC2 already. That isn’t that old too.

Please implant classics cars like Groub C, Groub 5,DRM, GT1,CanAm,80ths 90th´s Prototypes.

I don't agree with this at all.

Here you can see the pre-alpha ACC video's in the most early stage of development as Rennsport is now:

And this did run on a 2080TI+10/11th gen Intel/old AMD or something probably at that time since there was nothing better available at that time and not on a 4090+13th gen Intel as the Rennsport video of Dan Suzuki.

Much less extreme pop-in and way better graphics. All the fenches/trees/shadows look better in terms of LoD (not as good as AMS2 or something, but WAY better then Rennsport), and then I don't even talk about the rest. It's less sharp because of the GPU that was available at that time. But I can run ACC now way WAY sharper and maintain 90fps/hz then shown in that Rennsport video with 125% res scale/EPIC settings and that even on VR with the 4090 and insane resolution of the G2(120% native, so ~3400x3000+ pixels per eye), Dan Suzuki was running single screen with low resolution.

there is a CLEAR difference in what developers define as "Pre-Alpha", "Alpha" or "Beta" stages. And the way I see it, this video of ACC is clearly in a more polished and advanced state than I would personally define as "Pre-Alpha".

Did you even CLICK on the video, the first thing that it says is in huge caps letters:
E3 PRE-ALPHA TECH DEMO

Counter-argument: did you even read what I wrote?

as in, "lol we'll just call it pre-alpha, who cares"

That video was almost the first thing that Kunos released to the public, it was about a year before the Early Access was released from what I remember. It was before it was playable by the public. I remember that I was all hyped for it at that time.

Rennsport already released an playable version locally ~4 months ago. The current "pre alpha" of Rennsport isn't even their first playable release, they already come with a closed beta in a few days from what I understood and an open beta in 2 to 5 months.

It won't be an 90% different game by then. The basics are chosen wrongly. I also think that Kunos shouldn't have went for the UE4 engine. Rennsport developers could have learned from Kunos but they didn't and they implemented the Unreal Engine until now even way worse then Kunos did, it's clearly visible in the video. This while Kunos already moved on with AC2 with a different engine. I simply don't get it.

it's too early to have any kind of criticism but after me having to quit acc due to the bad VR experience using a Reverb G2 am not 100% confident how smooth this will run unless you have an RTX4090.

ACC was an instant buy because of AC, lesson learnt.
I hope they come correct with VR.

The first car in AC was a Lotus Elise SC so not much to complain about.

GT3 wouldn't be my first choice but it's the natural choice.

Still, very hopeful and excited about this title.....
